zygote2k March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 I'm gonna do a total species tank in my cube. I was thinking about Blue Eyed Cardinals and a nice stand of Acropora. Anyone got any suggestions?
davelin315 March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 Large Pacific Striped Octopuses! I would go with some Anthias and a single large coral head.
OldReefer March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 That itis a great idea Rob. I have always wanted to set up a tank like that with Sea grass, cardinals, long spine urchins, and maybe garden eels. Maybe even some gonipora...all of those things appear naturally together.
zygote2k March 17, 2013 Author March 17, 2013 I thought about Anthias but they have more aggression issues than Cardinals. I've even thought about a big school of Damsels or Chromis. Instead of Acroporas, I might go with Gorgonians and their ilk which will push me towards Caribbean species.
Chad March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 I saw two holocanthus worms with symbiotic emperor shrimp in a small LFS yesterday... That would make a cool species tank!
BowieReefer84 March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 (edited) Angler fish and Acros. Large school of damsels sounds cool as well. Edited March 17, 2013 by BowieReefer84
Steve175 March 17, 2013 March 17, 2013 I'd be happy to donate a few damsels to the dedicated angler tank.
Coral Hind March 18, 2013 March 18, 2013 A deep sand bed and a mated pair of yellowheaded jawfish. The Philly Zoo had a large tank with a dozen yellowheaded jawfish and sea grass in it and that looked really cool. I think a tank like that but with gorgonians or ricordia mixed in instead of the grass would be a pretty cool Caribbean tank.
Decadence March 19, 2013 March 19, 2013 I have a few of those cardinals and they do not like the flow required for all of my SPS. If I were to do a species tank, it would be a minimalist 24x24x18 rimless (with a net) with a pair of candy basslets and a zoa garden with very blue lights.
Chad March 19, 2013 March 19, 2013 The emperor shrimp I was talking about... Right up your alley, Rob!
