Fishie February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 I just noticed that the water in my tank isn't level... It's off by 1/4 inch from end to end and is holding 135 gallons I have 50 gallon tub and a few more smaller tubs. Does anyone near Herndon have something that can hold between 30 to 60 gallon
darkcirca February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 (edited) I'm a little ways away (South Riding), but I have one of the stock tanks if you need to borrow it for a few days - just need it back as my dogs love it in the summer. I think it's a 40 gallon - it's an oval one. Bought it when I moved my tank (and borrowed a second from a WAMAS member in Reston). If you want to buy one, look at Tractor Supply in Leesburg. They had a bunch of options when I was there. Edited February 2, 2012 by darkcirca
flowerseller February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 1/4" is fine. +1 Just don't fill that side as much on your next water change.
Guest thefishman65 February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 Just don't fill that side as much on your next water change. I tired that, but my return is on the low side so it still looks uneven.
Fishie February 2, 2012 Author February 2, 2012 +1 Just don't fill that side as much on your next water change. what do you mean don't fill that side much...water balances out regardless of where you put it...sry i just didn't follow you there its off by 5mm...the reason why i wanted to level it was because its rimless and i dont want to add to the stress and also it looks a little off visibly...both front and back right sides are lower by 5mm as compared to the front and back sides of the left sides
flowerseller February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 So try pouring the water in on the low side next time.
Guest thefishman65 February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 Flowerseller, Are you talking to me or fishie? I did poor it on the low side. I can't move the return and it is on the high side. Got any other ideas?
extreme_tooth_decay February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 (edited) Throw some roaches in there. Their frantic swimming action might even it. Edited February 2, 2012 by extreme_tooth_decay
RubberFrog February 2, 2012 February 2, 2012 Get a jug of left handed water. That always works for me.

davelin315 February 3, 2012 February 3, 2012 There's a reason why Chip's moniker has been "Bozo" and "Village Idiot" in the past. I'm in Herndon and have a 44 gallon Rubbermaid Brute in the back of the house and probably have something else that will hold quite a bit of water somewhere around the house. I also have a 125 gallon drum but it's about to be filled with water for a massive water change and sump cleaning.

They had a bunch of options when I was there. I got some 20 gallon buckets from tractor supply and drained it...put a few composite shims and good to go... Refilled with water ....threw in my sand...and watching it all now
Origami February 3, 2012 February 3, 2012 ...put a few composite shims and good to go... Now there's an idea. Shim up the water. That way you don't need to account for uneven evaporation from the low side. You might want to try clear shims instead of the regular wooden or composite ones. That way they're not visible. If you can't find them, then I'm sure that Avast could come up with a clear shim. They might even add it to their product list. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Good luck with getting the stand leveled. It's always a pain to find this sort of thing out after you've got things set up.
