Guest Siders June 19, 2005 June 19, 2005 (edited) Hey, I was wondering if anyone wanted to help organize a WAMAS BBQ/Frag Trade. I think it would be a great place to swap some stories, get some frags, and have a good time. I don't have the place to do it but it could be arranged if we get some interest. Things I could come up with that we would need: Place- Burke Lake Park in Burke,VA, maybe a member's big backyard, any ideas ? Food- Hot Dogs Burgers Drinks Frags- Lots of Frags-If we get an interest in this I can make another topic for the frag trading Anything else??? Just post it here PS this is just an idea thread if we can get this going I will divide the topic into several things like Food, Attendance, Frag trading, Etc. Hope this can be worked out. emissary June 19, 2005 June 19, 2005 Sounds good. I've got some Xenia frags that would grill up right nice with some lemon butter.
Guest D33rex June 19, 2005 June 19, 2005 I'd be in. I have many zoo frags of a nice bright lime green trim/ baby blue center which are at ready-to-trade status. I will help bring eats if theres enough interest.
Guest Siders June 19, 2005 June 19, 2005 Sweet I hope more responses come in. I will look into getting a spot at Burke Lake Park but just in case we can't is anyone willing to host us in their backyard?
Gatortailale June 20, 2005 June 20, 2005 Good idea. I nominate Steve's house (sph2sail) since he has pool - and do pool party like last year! Whoot
Guest Siders June 20, 2005 June 20, 2005 Sweet I think I will PM him and ask. Any other people interested?
fishface June 20, 2005 June 20, 2005 I believe strongly in bonding with my tank inhabitants. Can we add a couple of tubs of instant ocean to the pool and have a cross-species social? Mmmm. Maybe that's a little too out there.... FF
Guest Siders June 20, 2005 June 20, 2005 At the meetings we have guest speakers and raffles and frag swaps and food. Sometimes venders show up and sell some stuff. It is a great time and good place to meet some people in the hobby. At this meeting, if we can work it out, we will have a cook out, pool party, frag swap, and maybe a raffle if we can get some stuff together. It looks like we have a good interest so far and am waiting for a PM from steve to see if we can use his house. Siders
Guest Keyoke June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 I am going to make it to this if it kills me. Missed the food party cuz the wife had to work missed the last meet cuz the wife had school missed the social cuz the wife had school .. maybe I should just get a new wife. :P I can bring some eats too, got some frog spawn that could be fragged, and couple o shrooms..
Guest reverai June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 I would come this time and I could bring steaks for those whom eat meat! Steve
Guest mikesroth June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 Maybe we can talk Steve into making it a Food Party also. That was very interesting last time.
Guest Pandora June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 Any idea for a timeline on the next meeting? Would love to go, but in what I do, requesting scheduling changes is a big deal and advance notice needed.
seppler June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 I am interested--even though Burke is kind of a haul for me from Maryland. I can bring some food... D33Rex--those zos sound nice, but I don't have anything to trade, really. Would you sell them? How much $$$?
Guest Siders June 21, 2005 June 21, 2005 This is an idea thread. We are trying to form a plan around using steve's house. He has a pool and did a pool party last year. I will create several threads even one for Frag Swap. I will instantly PM everyone who post in this thread as to when and where it is. Siders
Lee Stearns June 22, 2005 June 22, 2005 If it is in the area- I would be happy to attend as well depending on the time- These smaller events seem to be much more fun and informative - there is more chance to talk to folks than at the normal meetings. Keep me posted- Thanks,
Gadgets June 22, 2005 June 22, 2005 I would love to go but transportation is a problem for me. If there is anyone in the DC or maryland area I could meet them at any metro stop if they would allow me to ride with them. I would love to go!!!
Caribbean Jake June 22, 2005 June 22, 2005 This is a great idea. Also, as Lee said is great to socialize in small groups and information flows in greater amount during these events. Has anyone checked with Burke Park for access and availability? Has Steve offered his pool? Is there food and beverage available? What is the status? I am IN, count me in. ooohh !! by the way I got three Acropora Sp, metalic green polyps and cream body. It may be of the Staghorn family. All pieces are 4" long. Jake
Guest Siders June 25, 2005 June 25, 2005 Alright well Steve hasn't PM'ed me back yet so I think we should start to look into Burke Lake Park. I will be gone next week so I was hoping that one of you could call them. If you do please post what they said and if we can go there. I'll be on either Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning to look at it. Hope you guys have a good week and I think I will split up the threads when I get back. Thanks Siders.
Guest Larry-T June 26, 2005 June 26, 2005 It's about 40 miles for me, so it's doable. I don't have anything to trade, but how about an auction? Maybe everyone with surplus stuff could bring some things in? <<** Larry **>>
Guest Siders June 26, 2005 June 26, 2005 Thats a good idea. Also does anyone else want to help me plan this? I could definately use some help but since schools over I can do alot also. Let me know. Siders
Guest Pandora June 27, 2005 June 27, 2005 (edited) Well just to get on the PM list and say I'm interested.... Dave 33743[/snapback] Dave, then you can pull them further up north for this one, hehe! Maybe I'll help out with the next one, but being that I haven't been to a first one yet, I'll just let someone else do the dirty this time. :D Edited June 27, 2005 by Pandora
