Chad August 28, 2011 August 28, 2011 wow! Glad you and your house are ok, Paul, how is the tank holding up?
paul b August 28, 2011 August 28, 2011 I am fine although still bald This is the scene on almost every block
extreme_tooth_decay August 28, 2011 August 28, 2011 petsmart? I know how you like it there! I am near you. I have a bunch of battery air pumps and UPS that you can have right now. Thanks for the offer....I managed to con my neighbor into letting me run an extension cord to his house indefinitely. I am good now. I expect this is going to take a long, long time to get fixed...I will be happy if I have power next weekend. They are obviously going to have to replace the entire pole. There must be 50-100 (phone, cable, power) wires there. It is hard to see them all in the pic.
flowerseller August 28, 2011 Author August 28, 2011 I did knock on wood. Got power back about 10 minutes after I started the generator. Good luck to anyone out. I hear we're going to be blasted by great weather for a couple days.
treesprite August 28, 2011 August 28, 2011 I'm really disappointed.... where was the storm in the DC area that they hyped us all up for? Only in two instances did the wind blow hard enough for me to hear it (even with trees in front of my windows). Here and there were some small tree branches, but nothing over about 1" in diameter. The least it could have doe was give us some thunder, but didn't even do that.
paul b August 28, 2011 August 28, 2011 I just went to my boat which is about 5 miles away and there are only a handful of homes here with power. I didn't lose power so I lent my generator to a friend. They pulled my boat out of the water just before the storm. It will go back in on tuesday.
ErikS August 30, 2011 August 30, 2011 I am fine although still bald This is the scene on almost every block Noticed the same thing most everywhere - those big trees growing between the sidewalk & the street = not the best root system = they fall over. Even with the moderate winds same here, many of those trees fell (really they should be removed).
