Incredible Corals December 31, 2010 December 31, 2010 (edited) I would like to remove my Korila 4 and Maxi Jet 1200 and have just one powerhead in my 60 gallon cube. Should I get the VorTech MP10 or MP40? If so, where should I place it in the tank since it's a cube? Or, should I not get the power head because there won't be that big of a difference and get a coral centerpiece for the tank? Edited December 31, 2010 by forrealb50
Chad December 31, 2010 December 31, 2010 I would go with the mp40, you can turn down it down if it is too much, but I don't think it will be. I have an mp40 as the only ph on my seagrassless seagrass tank. Re placement, I would off center it on both height and width and rotate it's position diagonally periodically.

I think Chad is absolutely right. Spend the extra and get the MP40, you can easily dial it down, and if you upgrade, you can turn it up, rather than have to upgrade. I think you will be very happy with the vortech, performance and looks..!
epleeds December 31, 2010 December 31, 2010 with the way your column is in the tank, you might want to think of 2 MP10's. about the same price as the MP40, but you might get better flow due to your rock structure. post the pick of your tank on the eco-tech forum on Rc and ask them which would be better.
gwweber December 31, 2010 December 31, 2010 shoot i use two mp40 in my 64 gal cube dial em down but they are sweet and very quiet at that speed
Coral Hind December 31, 2010 December 31, 2010 I'd go with an MP40 too. As for where to place it, I think you already have a good bit of flow up top so placing it lower in the tank might work. Look to see if you have any dead spots and position it to eliminate them.
steveoutlaw January 1, 2011 January 1, 2011 I'd skip the Vortech. I had an MP40 in my 60g cube and I always had dead spots. I would get a couple of Tunze 6055s on a controller. This way you get the wave effect and can direct them for more random flow.
