Incredible Corals November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 (edited) My wife accidentally washed one of my filter socks with detergent and a load of laundry after I had it all clean. I forgot to take it out of the wash. Should I just throw it out or wash it a few more times? On a plus side, it does smell like a soft teddy bear. Edited November 11, 2010 by forrealb50
lhcorals November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 I would throw it away just to be on the safe side. The cost of the new sock is not as expensive as your sweet corals.
zygote2k November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 just wash it in some bleach and rinse it well. It will be fine.

dakotasreef November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 I accidentally washed my filter socks with splashless bleach once. Not good, everything foamed up. I washed it twice with regular bleach and used the extra rince cycle each time. I still use that same sock still. I have a sps tank and saw no adverse effects from it either.
LCDRDATA November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 I've run my filter socks with a load of towels a couple of times - no bleach, but at least once with added Oxi-Clean - and used the extra rinse cycle. No adverse effects whatsoever (unless you count the dirty look from my wife).
trockafella November 11, 2010 November 11, 2010 just consider whats on your hands when you put them in the tank all the time, I think your fine.
