BowieReefer84 November 29, 2010 Author Share November 29, 2010 Prodibio starts tonight... Week 1 - Biodigest 11.29.2010 Week 2 - Bioptim Week 3 - Biodigest Week 4 - Bioptim Week 5 - Biodigest Week 6 - Bioptim/Reefbooster Week 7 - Biodigest Week 8 - Bioptim/Reefbooster Continued . . . . Also, I am going to stop the doing of Alk two part and only dose the calcium portion of my B-ionic. Want to keep alk around 8-9 with the prodibio dosing from what I hear. Nitrates are currently 10. BowieReefer84 December 20, 2010 Author Share December 20, 2010 Just added my second dose of digest, optim, and reefbooster after my 3 gal weekly water change. Also, I had not replaced the purigen or chemipure since setting up the tank, so I replaced those items as well. Skimmer is not really pulling anything out. I think there is nothing for it to pull out. I am leaving it running if it is doing nothing more than adding aeration to the water to help with ph. I also added some more livestock including a pair of peppermint shrimp I picked up from house of tropics for $15. I had like 5 very small aptasia. The shrimp must have eaten them because they are gone now. I also added a small sixline wrasse from Exotic Aquatics that is very healthy and lively. I am still happy with the led setup, but soft corals hate it. Most of my sps frags have begun encrusting nicely. I am going to update with some pictures next week when I have some days off. BowieReefer84 December 21, 2010 Author Share December 21, 2010 Time for some picture updates. Most of these corals have been in the tank for about a month. SPS is holding colors pretty well except for a couple. Also, frag plugs are becoming encrusted more and more everyday. Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the quality of the pictures. sen5241b December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 (edited) Great looking tank! Got a 29G BC also. I decided against the media rack for chamber 2 and instead scraped the black paint off the back of chamber 2 only and filled it with cheato and 2 strong lights. I do not run a skimmer or any reactors and my 'trates are zero and my LPS are happy --and have been happy for the last year. Strong flow is under-estimated in keeping 'trates low. I put the Rio 6hf in chamber and have 2 spouts with loc-lines on the return from chamber 3. I have a Koralia 1 low down in the back pushing water under the rock. Much of my rock is propped up on hidden PVC. I think this helps prevent a lot of detritus traps. Also, as long as you have the stock hood you will have heat problems Edited December 21, 2010 by sen5241b
BowieReefer84 December 21, 2010 Author Share December 21, 2010 (edited) Also, as long as you have the stock hood you will have heat problems Hey thanks!!! With the diy LED setup and the vortech keeping some heat out of the tank I hold a steady 78. I have a heater in chamber 1 set to 78, where I busted out the false floor. BowieReefer84 January 1, 2011 Author Share January 1, 2011 My Fiance's mom got me a $50 card to Exotic Aquatics. I picked up this ORA frag for $45. Not sure which one it is (wasn't labeled). I will post another pic once it shows full pe. Any clues on the name? The guy didn't have a clue. I think $45 was fair, and I don't need any other livestock or drygoods right now. BowieReefer84 January 10, 2011 Author Share January 10, 2011 Thanks, it def is a red planet. I put it near the top with plenty of room to table over the back corner of the tank. It has also been 21 days since my last Prodibio dose. I completed a 3 gal water change, and did my third dose tonight. I have the tunze skimming pretty wet. I have also had my salt around 1.023-1.024 for a while. I am going to raise it to 1.026 over the next week.
BowieReefer84 January 29, 2011 Author Share January 29, 2011 Time for another Prodibio dose. Some sps is doing well, while others are not. Some are browning while others are bleaching.... Not sure what's up. The setosa is doing very well and so is the jedi mind trick monti. All the monti's are doing good actually. Mainly the acro's that are just ok. I am going to work on keeping water quality up, and hope the others come around. Having the green slimer so high up it was only getting light on the front. I moved it down closer to the bottom center. The back of it is browned out, and I am hoping it comes back. The oregon tort in the center is doing well on color and polyp extension, and it is getting the most light. I figure if I can do a decent job with sps on a small tank when I buy a place and upgrade to a bigger tank it will only be easier. I will post some pictures tomorrow. BowieReefer84 February 2, 2011 Author Share February 2, 2011 Pictures. Some good some bad. That's all folks. Comments welcome. Not sure why some are bleached and others brown? Too much light and too little at same time? O well, I am happy with my first shot at sps.

LanglandJoshua March 2, 2011 Share March 2, 2011 Clowns can take a while before they will host an anemone. I've even heard of impatient reefers putting two clowns and an anemone in one 5 gal bucket with a small piece of rock to get the hosting effect. Of course they did have a filter running and water-flow. But even then it took hours. Just like most everything else here patience will help a lot. A man from an LFS told me this one day I was about to make an impulse buy, "you would be better off waiting a month and seeing how things go then spending money now. The effect will be almost the same."

A man from an LFS told me this one day I was about to make an impulse buy, "you would be better off waiting a month and seeing how things go then spending money now. I have had the clown since setting up this tank, and it has never hosted anything in my system. I need to get clowns that are proven to host, or get something that naturally host BTA's like Clarkii. Thanks!

BowieReefer84 May 9, 2011 Author Share May 9, 2011 In an attempt to automate more of my system I have added a Tunze ATO, and BRS Doser Pumps. I am using esvbioinc. I added 600ml water to 300ml bioinic. I was dosing 4ml a day straight bionic. With it mixed less potent I will be dosing 12ml a day each part. I have two digital timers set to run 12 minutes a day. I split the 12 minutes to (3) 4 minute intervals throughout the day to really keep things balanced exact. The top of water is pure h20 without any kalk added. I know it would look better to put the ato container and top off pumps inside the stand, but I really want to keep the moisture on the outside for durability issues. Plus, it reminds me to look when to add more water or two part. Here are some photos. The ATO container was built by NAGA P1010033 by mteske1, on Flickr P1010034 by mteske1, on Flickr P1010032 by mteske1, on Flickr P1010035 by mteske1, on Flickr THANKS!
