zygote2k December 11, 2009 Share December 11, 2009 When I first joined WAMAS, I was using Purple Up and Kalkwasser to maintain my cal and alk. After talking to a few members, I made the switch to B-Ionic 2 part, then to Brightwells 2 part. I thought those of you that were dosing the actual chemicals ( mag flake, epsom, soda, cal ) were crazy when you could get what you needed in a nice convenient bottle. Boy- was I wrong. I now find myself using those 4 chemicals and buying them in the bulk quantities to save tons of money. Each 50# bag fits in a 5 gallon bucket ( who doesn't have a few extra lying around? ) and is very simple to mix. Thanks for all the good advice. Cheers Mike open bag, pour in bucket. I was only stating that storage solutions for 50# bags can be handled by 5 gal. buckets. Yup, I do that as well - very convenient. Although, I find kalkwasser more difficult that open and pour - at least without being covered in the stuff... Origami December 11, 2009 Share December 11, 2009 has anyone seen the mag flake locally? The closest I've seen it regularly stocked is Harvey Salt Company in northeast Baltimore. Harvey Salt Company - Product

iceman December 12, 2009 Share December 12, 2009 Frederick Brick in Frederick, MD has magflake. They also have the DowFlake, but you have to ask for it as they usually store it offsite.
