DaveS February 27, 2009 February 27, 2009 Hey guys, Just thought I take a quick survey of how much temperature fluctuation people have in their systems. Let's get the following data and see if anything interesting comes out as a result. Temperature Range: Have Chiller?: Size of tank: Lighting (type and wattage): Predominant type of corals kept (LPS/SPS/equal): Here's mine- Temperature Range: 75-80 Have Chiller?: No Size of tank: 200G Lighting (type and wattage): 2x400W MH Predominant type of corals kept (LPS/SPS/equal): SPS
zygote2k February 27, 2009 February 27, 2009 Mine incl. maint. tanks: 150g no chiller, 575w MH, mixed, 76-80. 90g no chiller, 660w MH and T5, mixed, 76-82. 40g no chiller, 464w MH and PC, mixed 75-78. 12g Aquapod, no chiller, 64w PC, mixed, 78-80.
Brian Ward February 27, 2009 February 27, 2009 Temperature Range: 80-82 (generally steady at 81) Have Chiller?: Yes Size of tank: 120 Lighting (type and wattage): 2x 400W MH + 4x 24" T5 Predominant type of corals kept (LPS/SPS/equal): Mostly SPS I was originally keeping everything at 78 but couldn't afford the electric bill. Moving it up to 80 cut the amount the chiller had to run significantly.
Origami February 27, 2009 February 27, 2009 (edited) Temperature Range: 79 to 79.5 Have Chiller?: No Size of tank: 180 display / 300 in system Lighting (type and wattage): 7 x 80W T5 + 1 x 160W VHO over display (720W total); 2 x 250W MH over frag tank (reverse photo period) Predominant type of corals kept (LPS/SPS/equal): SPS My system is in my finished basement which helps me to avoid using a chiller. When I first got my AC3, the logging function helped me to determine that running the lighting over both the frag tank and display was causing wider temperature fluctuations (2-3 degrees per day worst case) than I desired. Putting the frag tank on a reverse photoperiod allowed me to stabilize the temperature as reported above. Edited February 27, 2009 by Origami2547
