octopus January 4, 2009 January 4, 2009 I'm looking for a new fish that will get along with my others, problem is my Maroon yellow stripe clown is a punk sometimes. There is no way I'm getting rid of my Clown he is going on 5 years now. So I have a 150 gal. with these inside. 5 chromis 2 firefish 3 bangai cardnals 1 yellow stripe maroon clown 1 watchman goby 1 pinkspotted goby 1 foxface 1 blue damsel So I'm looking for a couple of very colorfull fish that will stand out/reef safe. My clown has killed off 2 dwarf angels as well. What am I to do? I want some red, orange, purple. Throw me some ideas. thankzzz.
jason the filter freak January 4, 2009 January 4, 2009 if your clown is that mean I'd catch it and put it in your sump for a time out while you add some other fish then put it back a couple/few weeks later when the other fish get settled in, i really like the bi color angel and the flame angel for sure, if you want purple you could go with purple fire fish and or some sort of dotty back / pseudochromis... thats my opinion a few glasses a wine in but still i think a sound judgement
SteveM January 4, 2009 January 4, 2009 Have you tried any Tangs? You can usually get them big enough that they should be able to hold their own. There are plenty of different types and colors to choose from.

I tried this with a yellow stripped maroon once, and when I put him back in, he went straight back to his old antics. He went right back to his nesting spot and began picking on the same kaudern's cardinal fish, among other things. He had been in the sump for at least three weeks, and I had changed the rockwork around to no avail. Jon
rioreef January 4, 2009 January 4, 2009 (edited) Although not very colorful (silver blue and black), but interesting pattern is the Larmark's Angelfish with its stripes and dots. As it ages the lyretail gets more pronounced. Totally reefsafe and can handle its own. Eats anything (not corals or clams) and is cheap too. Edited January 4, 2009 by rioreef
zygote2k January 4, 2009 January 4, 2009 How about any of these three: Coral Beauty, Flame Angel, Potters Angel.
octopus January 5, 2009 Author January 5, 2009 All of these sound good, thanks! I think I'm leaning on a few Anthias. My clown doesn't seem to like dwarf angels. Not sure I've seen that larmarks angel, shes purty!
