hey, i have a 12 gal. nano and it is in very good shape.

but i am looking into putting a zoanthid or GSP colony in, any advice on that?

i have an open rock i am thinking of using that is pretty rigged and small, with a hole in it

Both of these corals can be fast growing. The zoanthids less so. I like GSP, but would put any kind of GSP on an isolated rock and keep trimming...as it will take over your whole tank.

thanks, but im wondering how to get a cheap and small piece of gsp.

Yes it is a 10g and it has been up and running for almost 8-9 months. Does not have a sump or protein skimmer, just LOTS of water changes. I am setting up a 24 gallon right now. And, yes it is very stable. I do about 1/4 - 1/2 % water changes a week and use a coral additive weekly. All in all I spend about 2-3 hours a week, at most on the tank.

You can keep lots of cool things in a 12 gallon. Here is my 10 gallon

sweet,

ive heard frogspawn is neat what is it?

Hey buddy, sorry I didn't get a chance to speak to you much when you were at school yesterday. Stop by again and hopefully I'll have more time (I did get to shake you around a bit, though! ). Frogspawn is a LPS coral, fairly easy to care for. There was one that was in the 6th grade tank before that was in a continual state of decline but it spent a year in my home system recuperating and is now on its way back into school in the next week or so. It has added extra heads from having only 1 that was nearly clear, not sure how many, but if there's an easy one to remove, I can give you one if it doesn't compromise the health of the colony. Typically they are easy to frag, but this one was dropped into a hole in a rock to allow it to heal up and it may very well be fused into the hole by now and may not be accessible.

thanks, were gunna have to meet sometime.

are you going to be able to make it to the aquarium company party this friday?

your prior student,

Glenn

Ahhhh, I'm glad I don't have to call you Skippy Boy anymore...

Don't know your location - but I can always find a piece or three of GSP. Live south of Manassas, work in Herndon.

bob

thanks thats great!

PM sent

Hey Bob, he lives across the road from me.

Glenn, the xenia can go south for a variety of reasons, although I don't know that anyone has proven or pinpointed any single cause as a culprit in most cases. That said, pH and nutrient levels in a tank are the typical problems (lack of nutrients as they eat up nitrates, keep them in dirtier water to keep them happier is a generalized theory).

How's all that stuff I gave you coming along?

(edited)

its doing great, exept for the larger piece of sps, whitch dies about a week ago.

by the way the piees that fell off of my xenia are in a different tank and are recovering , but the main piece is still in my tank and is shapping up nicely in recovery.
