Sam August 7, 2008 August 7, 2008 Just wanted to get your opinion on this skimmer. -> Any cons? -> Does it work the way out of box or need any upgrades or modifications? -> Any bubble issues? -> Any noise issues? -> Any other issues? I am considering this for my 46G Softy/LPS reef setup with medium fish load
steveoutlaw August 7, 2008 August 7, 2008 (edited) Jason said it all........it's more expensive then the remora, but it skims like a champ. You can search reef central for feedback. You might even be able to find a nice MCE600 for a good price. Here is a good review of the 600 for a tank about your size: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2006/7/review Edited August 7, 2008 by steveoutlaw
davjbeas August 7, 2008 August 7, 2008 I love my deltec skimmers, I have the mce600 on a 30gal tank and an APF600 on my 75g reef display. I negleted cleaning the aquabee pump on the apf600. when I got to it last week calcium biuldup had frozen the Impeller to the shaft. A new Impeller $129.00 a new shaft $10.00. I think if you need to replace the pump its almost 300$. I assume its because its german made and importing parts are expensive. Replacing the impeller in a eheim 1250 was only 29$ Its my own fault for not doing regular maintenence on the pump. The MCE 600 is the best hang on tank skimmer I know of. Breaking in the skimmer is very tricky though. mostly because on a new tank it skimms wet past the point of over filling. No water ends up on the floor though excess skimmate from the cup is returned to the skimmer. It takes about a week to 2 weeks to get it where you want it http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=21589 David B.
Sam August 7, 2008 Author August 7, 2008 Sounds very promising. Thanks guys for your replies. Does members post here their equipments/frags for sale? If so what forum is that? Is it restricted for members only?
davjbeas August 7, 2008 August 7, 2008 It is restricted to members only. The only time non members can sell goods on the general forum is when breaking town a tank - getting out of the hobby. David

I always wondered who good the smaller HOB one was. You gonna have any of these on display Johnny when they come in?

I will have a better idea once they are on the shelves. john
