You want to make this accessible to anywhere correct? Meaning you can be at a hotel in Las Vegas and still want to access it?

If so, you'll have to do the following (I'm assuming your firewall/wireless gateway is allowing all traffic to pass through):

1) Register with a DNS service for DDNS that way you can resolve to your computer via a specific site name.

2) Make sure you NAT your port 80 from your computer out to the world.

3) Get ready for a lot of script kiddies should you go this route. :)

If you decide to forgo step 1, make sure you memorize your ip address almost every day (unless you have a static IP). You can go to http://whatismyip.com and it'll tell you.

Chris,

If I remember it correctly, the instruction on how to do that is in the ACIII controller manual. Unless you have your own private domain IP address, you will not be able to access your ACIII remotely once your ISP provider change your IP address on you.

Nah, if you wanted, you could write a small script to e-mail you if your ip address has changed, so that isn't a big deal. :)

Chris,

Are you using Apple equipment like that thread? If so, what trouble are you having and how far did you get in the steps described there? I don't use Apple wireless equipment but do have a Mac laptop so I am familiar enough with Mac configurations to figure out what's going wrong for you.

Send me a PM with your contact # and we can set up a time to figure it out by phone.

Justin

Chris,

I have a different controller, however regarding the IP, I registered with DynDNS. Click on "Free Dynamic DNS" and follow instructions. It will run a program on your machine to keep up with your IP, even though your IPS may change it on you. You can then create a web address that goes through DynDNS to get to your ACIII info.

Easy, folks... most IP 'leases' from your DHCP server are for a month... and at the end of the month, it renews. For the most part, we can keep the same IP address for years. Exception is if your router is down when the lease expires - and it doesn't request a renewal, and someone else gets your address.

Chris - I didn't look at where you were in the instructions, but what are you using to connect to the internet; computer--->router--->modem ?? Basically you have to go into the router and turn on a setting that allows port 80 (or whatever port you wish) to pass through to the network. THEN - change the password on your AC-III. AC-III might not be the most popular hacker targets in the world - but you can bet SOME idiot is out there trying to find open AC-III's and get into them with the default userid/password.

Can u access your router to setup port forwarding? thats what I had to do.

I dont have the ACIII. But, I do the port forwarding to get to a webpage that my software creates. The is no direct tie to the controller, no are there capabilities to make changes to the unit via the web. Just a status board.
