melinda & adam September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 Looking to replace the seaclone that is not working. I saw another thread from earlier this year saying that the remora was a good option. Is it still a good option or is there something else that is better out there now. It will be going on a 29g without a sump.

madmax7774 September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 I had a remora it was ok. Long term, go deltec, short term, remora. CPR is not so good.
trble81 September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 We use an Aqua C remora on our 35 gallon hex and it works great. For your 29, it should be more than enough (I believe they make a model for smaller tanks but not too sure if it's a HOB kind, but aqua c is). We got ours from Marine Depot. --Mike
melinda & adam September 13, 2007 Author Share September 13, 2007 Had a feeling someone would say Deltec. I think we will end up with oe by the end of the week. Thanks

jason the filter freak September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 I've had good experiences with the cpr back bak, and so has raff. You get what you pay for with deltec, but they charge a bit more than they're work. JMO
Grav September 14, 2007 Share September 14, 2007 remora or backpack should be fine as long as you are not totally over stocking it.
Sharkb8 September 15, 2007 Share September 15, 2007 I use an Excalibur, but that may be too big for your system. Works well on my 90g.

Rascal September 17, 2007 Share September 17, 2007 (edited) I could never get my cpr backpack to work. I liked the remora much better. Edited September 17, 2007 by Rascal
steveoutlaw September 17, 2007 Share September 17, 2007 You get what you pay for with deltec, but they charge a bit more than they're work. JMO You do get what you pay for with a deltec, but they are not over priced for what they do. I've had a bakpak, remora, asm, euroreef and now have a deltec. The consistent performance of the deltec far exceeds any of these skimmers.
