danskim May 23, 2007 May 23, 2007 Are there any local custom glass aquarium builders? I'm trying to find one for a 96x24x24 display.
Guest Undercoverdork May 23, 2007 May 23, 2007 not sure about glass but check the vendor forum for NAGA's acrylic tanks i just got a 33
Gatortailale May 23, 2007 May 23, 2007 Haven't heard of any local ones glasscages.com - has almost monthly shipments to the area (Manassas area) reef central sponsors: aquarium obsessed -is who Sanjay Joshi used [looked nice when I saw tank in person] I also hear good things about miracles in glass

I didn't notice it on their site. But this is helpful. Thanks! I'll probably go with them.
Almon May 23, 2007 May 23, 2007 There is a custom glass shop in Laurel, MD that I had used to replace a glass top. I will drive by and get the name for you.

Gatortailale May 24, 2007 May 24, 2007 http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=Deliv under their deliveries /shows tab. They were just up at manassas on may 12. They add dates often once they fill a truck with stock
Jager May 24, 2007 May 24, 2007 Craig last i saw, AO was changed to moved on on RC, not sure if hes still doign anything there or not. he does make good tanks it seems.
lmeyer May 24, 2007 May 24, 2007 Craig last i saw, AO was changed to moved on on RC, not sure if hes still doign anything there or not. he does make good tanks it seems. He had a tank build thread that was closed on RC. He was having a feud with Mitch of Inter-American. There were also some questions about him possibly logging in with multiple names to give rave reviews for his tanks. Regardless, it looks like he does good work and he is still an RC sponsor. His website is http://www.aquariumobsessed.com One reason that I am hesitant to go that route, he has a reputation of being late on delivery and I imagine that your legal remedies for issues will be more difficult in working with a Canadian firm. Of course dealing with American firms may be no fun either.

dandy7200 May 28, 2007 May 28, 2007 If you've got the money, www.miraclesaquariums.com is the way to go. I have been working with the guys at Miracles for a couple months and their customer service is top notch. Prices are more than glass cages but their quality is far superior from what I have seen and read. Their warranty is a heck of a lot better than GC too.
Guest tgallo May 28, 2007 May 28, 2007 I picked up two glass sumps last month from glass cages, i met them in manassas VA. The driver asked me if i would hang around a bit and help him unload some of the larger tanks, in the process of unloading, i helped with a 300 gallon glass tank, it looked like it was built well with euro brace etc. for the tank size you have in mind, give them a call, cant hurt.
danskim August 11, 2007 Author August 11, 2007 I ended up going with GC... so I'm crossing my fingers. Final dimensions are 96x31.5x24.5" 3/4" starphire and rimless.

danskim August 11, 2007 Author August 11, 2007 Wow that must have cost a pretty penny... what do you mean rimless? I mean that there is no eurobracing or black/wood frame on the top. A la Japanese or European style. Elos makes their tanks rimless I think.
NAGA August 11, 2007 August 11, 2007 Sounds very nice. Seems to be the trend nowadays to go rimless.....................cuz euro-bracing doesn't cut it anymore. A number of the last series of tanks I have built have been acrylic rimless tanks
