flowerseller April 29, 2007 April 29, 2007 A week ago, I found 5 baby bangai cardinals that apparently took the ride over my intank overflow and then down either of the 2" ovevrflows to the sump. Lucky since all their brothers and sisters that didn't join them became a tasty snack for all my other fish or got sucked up into either my CA reactor pump or return pump. I knew it was coming, but never expected any to make it since there's no way to get them Popa out of the main display while he's "holding". Neat surprise as I was about to siphon off 10g during a water exchange. I tried every thing except spaghetti, to get them to eat, but am now getting the remaining 3 to eat frozen cyclops. I basically have to flood the little floating breeding tank I now have in my sump. The vents in it allow more flow thru than I'd like but still keeps them inside. 1 guy died the next day and may have been trying to catch it, I smished it by mistake. The other guy started a little ballet swimming after a couple days and then got stuck against a vent. The other 3 seem to be growing but not in intelligence. Fish really are stupid. I got some excellent really close up and blurry photos but you don't want to see them since you can't see the fish. I sell great flowers but take an awfull pictures with an excellent camera. My kid has promised to take some pics today so I'll post them when he does.

I can't even imagine what I would do with some baby fish (fortunately, my pond goldfish have babies without my intervention). Glad you were able to herd three of them into the little breeding tank, where they have a chance at survival. If they are eating and growing - you're probably going to end up with some fish! bob
Lee Stearns April 30, 2007 April 30, 2007 (edited) Very nice Chip- you finally got that pair in the mood- I gues you left the door to your bedroom open, and they figured it out- Now you are in for it- once they start they will be having a batch every couple of months- till the male gets too skinny. Lucky catch in the over flow!! Let me know if you need anything- Edited April 30, 2007 by Lee Stearns
