I have a 29g biocube that evaporates about 1 gal per day. I'd like to set up a 5g reservoir but don't want to use a float switch. Anyone have any ideas?

It's expensive, but you can use a LiterMeter. I am sure someone knows of a cheaper option though. Good luck!

Get a peristalic pump... you can expect to spend $100 of more for a good one... cheaper ones can be found for $50...

I like scotts link however there is this warning on the page, though I may be misunderstanding what it's reffering to.

Note: The ASOFK is not recommended for evaporation replacement. The LLC-S and LLC-M are designed for evaporation replacement applications.

That's what I do. Get a pump that pumps like 1 gallon per hour, and put it on a timer

to come on for 1 hour per day. No float switches to fail. I got a fairly cheap one ($50 range),

and it's worked perfectly for years.

Tim, where did you get yours?

I'm using an Aqua Medic SP 3000 Dosing Pump. I know several people think

they are junk, but I love mine. I've had it for over a year, and I have a very long

run from my R/O reservoir to my tank. It's always worked perfectly. I run it about

80 min per day for my amount of evaporation.

I bought mine off ebay for about $50 back when new ones cost about $75.

They seem more expensive now. I see them for almost $100.

If I was going to spend $100, I'd try to get a Kangaroo 324.

They routinely sell on ebay for around $100.

HERE is one that ends tomorrow
