Kalk Bulk/Group Buy

I have looked this lime and this is what I see.

Each bag of lime is 24"x15"x6" and in perferated like paper bags.

It clearly states on the bag - Calcium Hydroxide - food grade

I have placed them each in a plastic bag since many leak/spill. minimal loss

6 bags at Flowers & Plants, Etc - 2 bags at my house. both in McLean, VA

My reagent grade is clearly whiter but I was much more impressed with this than I thought I would be.

I expected this to have a greyish color similar to pickeling lime and have a clumpy, grainy texture which it is far from having.

This stuff looks and acts like top quality CaHo2

 

I read the spec sheet and noticed it contains silica however, I believe if it holds a strong PH which I believe it will, you wil not see any diatom activity as a result. If you do, I would look else where than this lime for the root.

I will not be at the frag fest so can not bring them to it.

 

SPILTTING BAGS

This can be done by you outside with your containers at my house on Sunday as mentioned before. Let me know so I bring more bags home. A blow day will cancel the splitting for obvious reasons.

I believe if we are all smart and use good common sense practices, splitting these bags will not be any worse than when we used to spread this stuff on our lawns. Wearing safety goggles, gloves, and a dust mask would be wise but lets not get carried away with hazmat suits and rinse off chambers please. My neighbors are becomming curious with all this activity

I am gonna be in on sunday. So per Dave, he has a 1/2 bag for me.

I will bring a bucket, goggles and the respirator mask thingy as well

Have at it, it shouldn't be too bad.

Bring a long sharp knife, I believe you can simply cut the bag in half and carefully lift it into your container.

If your half buddy is not here, you need to have the other half contained.

This is a glue party and we hope to finish or come really close.

We will be gluing our own reactor together, not all of them.

While we have a lot to do, it seems doable, but we'll see.

I have dinner guests at 5:30 so I have to stop by 5:00 to get ready.

If we get close enough, you may elect to take your stuff and finish up privately or simply wait and come back to finish. Your call, my pleasure.

Splitting lime will be done by those who are getting it. I'm just offering a place.

Sorry to miss you all this weekend, this move, yardsale, construction, etc, etc, etc is killing me. Last night was the first time I got to sleep before 1am in 21 days, 12:30am, yeah!

Before that I was getting to sleep between 1-3:30am and getting up around 7-7:30am to go to my regular job for 7 days a week for the last 3 weeks +. HELP!  [tr]

If seven bags are spoken for, then yes I can do it again.  I could probably order less than that, but shipping would come into the picture... no shipping charge on 7 bags.  If there is interest, I can pursue it to see what the end number would be if we cannot get to the free shipping level.  I can get a better price (.45/lb.) on it for this order and any order from this point on.  Since the price is better, more has to be ordered to meet the "free shipping" number.  

 

I have an extra 25lbs. but someone already asked for it, sorry about that.

I have 1/2 a bag sealed in a 5 gal salt bucket that I will take years to get to so if someone wants a couple of pickling lime cans worth, I am willing to share until another big order is set up- PM me if you are in need.
