krish October 13, 2004 Author Share October 13, 2004 Folks, One business day of not checking the site/thread has left me out in the dark. A number of additions and a drop out. Howard, continue doing your research on the right light. No problem. I guess we will have atleast a week before we fire off the order. Doug, will add in the mogul socket as well. I will re-summarize the order and repost soon. Keep it coming folks. -krish
scott711 October 13, 2004 Share October 13, 2004 Krish, I would be interested in ordering a couple of things if the discount is right. They have some bulbs I would like but have found some better prices on other sites. Please let me know, Thanks Scott
HowardofNOVA October 13, 2004 Share October 13, 2004 Thanks guys, I checked my bulbs closely and actually have 1-25w Colormax bulb which sucks, it gives off a yellow light and 1-50/50 10w Coralife dual PC type bulb in there now that shows actually a great color, with a low blue coloring. A 13w would be a big step back on wattage. So I think Ghazanfar Ghori & Michaels suggestions are making more sense with wanting to increase wattage for more variety in corals later. Soooo, my top selections are: Ghazanfar Ghori's Coralife Coralife 20" 96W Quad w 50/50 bulbs #96-53101 about $90 -OR- 18.5" 1x 96W CF 50/50 Quad Retrofit Kit -Square Pin $129.95 Item Code: 47-18502 -OR- Retro fit, need more research. Thanks Krish on the heads up about ordering next week. I still want the VHO bulb. I might go the Ebay route also on a lighting system? HowardofNOVA October 13, 2004 Share October 13, 2004 Alright guys, Your opinion, is this a deal for $80? 20 in CORALIFE AQUALIGHT 96W QUAD COMPACT with 96 watt 50/50 4-Tube (quad) Compact Fluorescent Lamp Square Pin Base AND fans Lightly used 3-month Excellent Condition ALSO: Extra 20"Aqualight 96W 50/50 4-Tube (Quad) (NEW) and Mounting Legs (NEW) Howard
Guest Ghazanfar Ghori October 13, 2004 Share October 13, 2004 ...AND fans Lightly used 3-month Excellent Condition The fixture already comes with fans built in. But if you're getting the fixture, with bulb, an additonal replacement bulb and mounting legs all for $80 - that's a good deal. Used fixtures are usually available on ebay for $50-60. New bulbs are around $38. Mounting legs - about $7 or so.
HowardofNOVA October 13, 2004 Share October 13, 2004 Copy that! Price was $68 plus $12 shipping to me. Looks like the fishes are getting a new light :D Go ahead and just order me the VHO light for now. Thanks! Howard
krish October 14, 2004 Author Share October 14, 2004 Folks, I still need to summarize the order and republish. How about lets put a date on this order. I will call hellolights on 20th October with the items and see what they can offer. So Tuesday - 19th October will be the deadline to get new additions into. If someone needs to get the items sooner, please IM me and we will move the dates ahead if required. Note : Regarding comparison shopping and prices from other vendors online, please quote the website and the price for comparison on your items. Once i get a discount % from hellolights, i will ask that they price match the specific items. Revealing it upfront will ding us in the discount they offer thanks krish

xeon October 15, 2004 Share October 15, 2004 At this point, they might even be ready to "look at their margins"; so people on the fence can get a ballpark idea. krish, my hat is off to you on this one... lots to keep up with.
krish October 15, 2004 Author Share October 15, 2004 Yea, I am planning on roping a bit. The idea is to sent the sample potential order now and let them know that some folks are on the fence. So unless they give us something conclusive, it will be hard for folks to make a decision. Question - Do we also tell them that the Metal Hallide lamps are priced higher than the competition. I atleast know that their 250X XM 10K is about $7 higher than elsewhere. ??? What do folks think? -krish
xeon October 15, 2004 Share October 15, 2004 krish, Less is more gooder, if you can negotiate something that would be great. I have historically bought MH's from carolinacorals.com or used them to price compete with Hellolights. Link to MH page: http://carolinacorals.com/bulbs.html (currently $45 for XM 20K 175's)
HowardofNOVA October 15, 2004 Share October 15, 2004 Krish, Take it from someone in sales for 30 years, give them the straight scoop! Here is our future request! Many are on the fence DUE to competition at lower prices now! What can they do to increase their presence in this HUGE potential client base? WHAT CAN THEY DO FOR US?
krish October 15, 2004 Author Share October 15, 2004 Dave/Howard, If we talk about price matching, they might drop the overall discount to make up for it. But i guess thats much better than going back more than once and haggling -krish
HowardofNOVA October 15, 2004 Share October 15, 2004 Krish, Don't need to "Haggle", just tell what you would like in the opening letter and accept that as a fair price with their response. They will either get our complete order or just partial! Just give them the option. What ever they come back with should be fine. Howard

krish October 15, 2004 Author Share October 15, 2004 Alright folks, I shot an email to hellolights with the tenative listing. Lets see what they have to say. -krish
krish October 16, 2004 Author Share October 16, 2004 Folks, I heard back from Hello lights. Our Grand Total = 693.35 They will do the order for $600. That is about 13% discount. The skinny is that we foot the shipping of $30.95. So after the discount, it puts us at approx 8.99% = 9% discount. Is this amenable to folks on the fence? You basically take off 9% off the marked price on your items. I need a GO/NO-GO from Folks who needed to see the discounts. The following. Scott711 - Krish - GO craby - probably won't respond from Bahamas So will probably just order it for him. Proxy GO Folks that are part of the pool order so far. krish October 16, 2004 Author Share October 16, 2004 Folks, October 19th 7pm EST is the deadline for anyone wanting to join in on to the pool order. New additions will obviously add up the shipping costs. If the items you want to add in is not one of those already covered in the list above, then i will need to run it by hellolights to see the specific discount. We can go up to $750 and the shipping remains $30.95. The next tier is up to $1000 is $40.95. We are currently at $600(after their discount). But please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to join in. I will do my best to help out. thanks krish
Guest goblinshark October 16, 2004 Share October 16, 2004 I would like to go in but i have some questions first. So at the Fragfest i won any Electronic Icecap ballast i want. Im thinking of getting a MH ballast then changing my reef over from PCs. I have a 46gal w/ 2x96w PC right know, I want to upgrade to a MH-PC system. What i was thinking is a 175w or 250w 10k MH and two either 65 or 96w Actinic PCs. Which do u think would be better for my tank? How sould i set this up? I mean like a hood system or seperately? Is the balast comapatable withj any socket? Howe do i wire it? Thanks
