To keep costs to a minimum, i would keep the 2x96W setup, just purchase the 96W actinics lamps and use it along with a say 250W Metal Hallide 10K lamp. Don't know how your current PC lighting is setup. But in either case, making a canopy and using the stuff you alread have will always work out cheaper. I will redo the order and call hellolights and at the very least ensure that we can keep the 9% discount post shipping. Ghazanfar, the 250W MH kit is expensive with hello lights. They want $155 for it. Check out http://www.diyreef.com . They have it for $129. Shipping is normally around 8 bucks with them for that stuff. Even with the 9% discount, you will not come any better with hello lights. If you pick up a lamp as well - 250W 10K XM for 51 bucks when you purchase the kit, thats a cool deal. If you are still interested, i can find out if they can price match diyreef. Add in a reflector and socket from hellolights after - 9% discount ~ $26. It was working out well price-wise but I've decided to hold off on the MH for now. You would need to run it off a timer, but you will want to do that anyway just to keep the lighting consistent. That ballast is an electronic ballast, with a 3 year warranty- I'd most certainly give it a shot. Hellolights is good about dealing with any problems as well. ARO is a relatively new company on the market for aquarium stuff. Don't know much about them specifically, but haven't heard lots of complaints either. Right? Perhaps you are looking at them priced seperate from the ballast? If I am off, or they have raised the prices without updating it, I'll pay the extra $2 or $3 / bulb, but that still wouldn't put me around $320.... Sorry, maybe I am missing something. krish October 20, 2004 Author Share October 20, 2004 Phil, You were right. I searched the items by the code and plugged in the prices. Adding it as a combo did matter. So i went ahead and revised the prices on the VHO lamps. Here is the breakdown for you. Ballast - $35 3 piece Endcaps - $19.50 for 2 pairs End cap mounts - FREE - 2 pairs per ballast Lamp 1 - $21 Lamp 2 - $23 Wire - $3.50 So the total is $102 per Kit.
