Bendalat October 22, 2006 October 22, 2006 (edited) Hello all, I just want to share some info about my new tank. Jeff is building me a tank with this specs: The tank is 60"X48"x25" acrylic with an external overflow box which contains two 2.5" bulkheads. The thick of the sides and bottom are 1". There will be a 3" Eurobrace surround the top. This should be an awsome tank. I will update with all pictures that Jeff send me. Khanh Edited October 24, 2006 by Bendalat
fab October 22, 2006 October 22, 2006 You must be excited to be getting a tank from NAGA. He does quality work and insists on quality fittings. You should really enjoy this large tank. I did a couple of calculations for your tank. I hope that they are useful to you: It will displace 292 gallons, that is the exterior volume (39 cu. ft.). It will hold 10.8 gallons per inch of water depth. It will hold 237.5 gallons at 2 inches below the brim, 259 gallons to the brim. The interior volume is 34.6 cu. ft. to the brim. fab
extreme_tooth_decay October 22, 2006 October 22, 2006 5x4 ft is an interesting shape. How'd you decide on those dimensions? Do you have a spot you're specifically making the tank fit? tim
moga October 22, 2006 October 22, 2006 wow..great shape.. i got my tank 29x29x20 by him as well.. i really enjoy his craftmanship;....you won't be disappointed.. keep us the progress..
Bendalat October 23, 2006 Author October 23, 2006 Thank you guys, Yes, I could'nt wait to recieve my tank. I've had doing business with him in the past. I'm realy like the way he works. Before I ordered my tank, he let me stop by his house to see his demo tank. He explained to me how he will build my tank which is very awsome. I just asked him to send me some pictures. I will post here once I receive them. Tim, this is an inwall tank. 5x4f is the available spot that I have in my family room.
HowardofNOVA October 23, 2006 October 23, 2006 I saw your tank when I p/u my sump your going to be pleased!
xCGx October 23, 2006 October 23, 2006 How do you go about contacting him? I sent him a pm on CMAS because his WAMAS account was full. I would like for him to build me a tank based on his reputation. Does he build for just anyone or only for people who know him?
HowardofNOVA October 23, 2006 October 23, 2006 I just bent his ear to clean out his mailbox and you should be hearing from him soon!
NAGA October 24, 2006 October 24, 2006 I was hoping to get some pics for khanh today but, I went into work and left early today..........I am sick..........just plain rundown right now. I will see if I can go in tomorrow so Khanh can show off his new tank.
Bendalat November 5, 2006 Author November 5, 2006 Hello all, I just recieved the tank today. It was huge. The graftmanship was very good. Thanks Jeff. I forgot to take a full pic when it still outside. I will borrow my friend camera to take it later for you guys. These are pics that I could take with my camera. The open top with 3"x1" acrylic The 12"x6" external overflow box with two 3" holes
jamesbuf November 5, 2006 November 5, 2006 (edited) can't wait to see what the whole thing looks like. Once I finish school, NAGA better be ready build a similar one for me. Edited November 5, 2006 by jamesbuf
rocko918 November 5, 2006 November 5, 2006 I helped move this sucker in this morning. Good thing Khanh had a ton of guys to help and planned it out really well. The craftmanship was awesome, the tank look really sweet. Khanh is going to have fun filling it with his corals!
ErikS November 5, 2006 November 5, 2006 Looks very nice. Add yet another "superb craftsmanship" comment to the list - love his tanks. I do believe Jeff has become the king of the euro-braced acrylic tanks! So much better than those "two hole" deals". Nicer to look at AND to work on. Love the dimensions, wide tanks always look so good.
NAGA November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 This was a very cool size tank to build. He is going to enjoy having no cross bracing and the euor-bracing. He has his system very well layed out and the whole set up will be very impressive. appreciate the business Khanh
Bendalat November 7, 2006 Author November 7, 2006 Here are some pics of the tank. My current tank is standing in front of the new tank now. I will take some front pics when I complete the transfer. Khanh
jamesbuf November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 That is just too sweet. Gotta love a footprint that size. I'd build up all the liverock in the middle and have the outer parimeter for swimming space. Soooo many options with those dimensions. Very nice. Can't wait to see pics after the transfer.
dschflier November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 Grat tank. I can't wait to see it filled up. Jeff is building me my sump and I can't wait to get it. He has got to be a busy guy. Eventually I will ask him to build me a custom tank as well.
rooroo November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 Question: Is the bottom acrylic really that thick or do you have a couple inches of water in there?
ErikS November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 Is the bottom acrylic really that thick or do you have a couple inches of water in there? I'm voting water, he said above that the sides & bottom are 1" thick Though I will admit Jeff's tanks can usually double as fallout shelters
Bendalat November 7, 2006 Author November 7, 2006 It's the water. The botom is 1/2 inch. Jeff said when it lays flat, you don't need 1". I'm voting water, he said above that the sides & bottom are 1" thick Though I will admit Jeff's tanks can usually double as fallout shelters
Charlie97L November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 It's the water. The botom is 1/2 inch. Jeff said when it lays flat, you don't need 1". are you running the 60" side front to back, or side to side? it looks like it's going in a 48" hole that your current tank is in.
Bendalat November 7, 2006 Author November 7, 2006 Charlie97L, Because of the room size, the front is 48" and the right side will be 36" Khanh are you running the 60" side front to back, or side to side? it looks like it's going in a 48" hole that your current tank is in.
Charlie97L November 7, 2006 November 7, 2006 Charlie97L, Because of the room size, the front is 48" and the right side will be 36" Khanh i thought it was 60" front to back?
