  1. frag tank and frags look great! it's exactly like the one I'm planning to do sometime in the future
  2. I seem to remember seeing one in a reef tank a while ago... although from what I read, they'll probably eat ornamental shrimp and some other inverts
  3. davidm: I'll also take a frag of red cap if there's any left. otherwise I'll take a green plating monti
  4. I'm going hopefully ... will be my first meeting
  5. we get huge herons at our pond .. ate some of our biggest, nicest koi a few years ago. Now we have a big black lab who chases the birds away (sometimes he manages to get a few feathers). We'll probably put up fishing line around the paremeter of the pond as well
  6. I don't have much but... GSP orange monti cap (1x2") a frag of capnella and of xenia a few blue zoas anthelia I'd be interested in a frag of purple cap (Dhoch) and pink panther zoas (ChrisS)
  7. well he ate a little garlic .. although most of the time he just spat the pieces back out I also have some food soaking in the garlic right now it's definitely gotten worse since this morning .. i just hope feeding garlic will work well
  8. alright I'll see if I can get some today .. thanks for the advice everyone
  9. I just got a powder blue tang on saturday .. he was very healthy to begin with but now has ick. Since this is my first time dealing with the parasite I'm a little unsure of what to do. I have a plastic container of pre-chopped garlic (ingredients: garlic, water, phosphoric acid) - will this be ok to feed to him or should I get fresh garlic?
  10. I'm about to set up a closed loop system for my 90g to replace my powerheads. I'm trying to decide what kind of pump to get. any suggestions? about how many gph should it be? I'd like to get something quiet also - if possible
  11. I have the same thing every time I reach my arm in the tank ... gets all dried out, red rashes all over the place, hurts like crazy
  12. the pump is what's making the noise...I've tried all sorts of things to make it quieter (padding underneath, etc)...I think the next thing to do is install some sort of sound muffling material on the walls of the stand. if worst comes to worst I guess I could always buy a new, quieter pump. Any suggestions? My current pump is an old, little giant pump.
  13. hehe .. yeah maybe I'll look around for a new one I definitely don't want to have that noisy thing on 24/7...you can hear it all over the house
  14. I'm getting complaints about noise from family members...was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to run it 24/7
  15. I started up my 90g a few days ago...I'm wondering how long/often I should be running my protein skimmer (ETSS Evolution 750 skimmer) my stocking list is pretty small right now: a 3-3.5" yellow tang, small ocellaris clown, and bicolor blenny. I have quite a bit of LR (you can see pictures here ) .. it's all very established - most came from my old 55g
  16. Update: got rid of the 55g now have: 90g + 20g sump 29g freshwater planted total of around 130 gallons (just add 75g to the total)
  17. I just finished transfering all of the livestock/LR from my old 55g to the new 90g last night here's a list of what's in it so far: -yellow tang -ocellaris clown -bicolor blenny -GSP, anthelia, montipora, various mushrooms, some xenia/capnella tree, frogspawn, zoas, and some ricordea (I'm holding the last three for someone temporarily) -feather duster -misc. cleaners -LR and here's some pics of the setup process Filling up: Cycling: Cycling Finished: Everything Transfered from 55g: New Aquascaping: Bicolor Blenny: Yellow Tang: (happy with the new space ) Sump/Filtration: (A lot of temporary stuff in here)
  18. email sent on all corals (not including anemone)
  19. in case I decide switch over to a new pump, what are some quieter kinds?
  20. I recently got an old little giant 'quarium series' pump (around 700-800gph I think) running my protein skimmer ... It's extremely loud though, and is constantly making a really annoying ringing noise. Do you think it's because of how old it is? I've never had any experience with other external pumps, so I have no idea what it's supposed to sound like any help would be great
  21. wow that is one nice tank .. love the aquascaping!
