  2. I neglected my tank too, I used a turkey baster and airline tubing connected to ridged airline tubing to suck most of it out, I was looking for a huge plastic syringes to suck it up but no luck. I did water changes up the kazoo. My poor tank good luck alot of work ahead of you, like they say an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

  4. nanoreef.com has alot of information and ideas with the set up you have, I have a nano cube and did the 4x24 and moonlights and have a hard time with temperature. Nano tuners has a mini chiller I am aiming to get by next summer you can check them out, and good luck with the bug it gets expensive....
  5. wow bonaire. I just read a scuba magazine , and that place was voted best place to visit in the atlantic, also best off shore diving so I dont think it would be a problem to find one, just drive park dive....sorry I am of no help but its going to be nice enjoy.

  8. good luck alot of people dont even bother with skimmer for pico tanks because the skimmer will skim out trace elements, it's up to you. You can buy one real cheap for twenty dollars but need air pump and air stone try the sander's piccolo air driven skimmer, just google it is bound to show up.
  9. I was thinking about the same, almost like the canopy and stand is connected from the back to hide all the equipment. I made the canopy long time ago and decided not to mess with, the stand I also wanted to stain I bought ebony stain not to long ago the only problem the canopy is painted black, so I might have to sand it down to stain both of them alot of work ahead........
  10. great work I have a 29 and always wanted to do the same maybe next time what are the plans for stand and canopy I am in the process of making a stand now, I will be keeping tabs on this thread....

  16. I got a fake anemone that I put in their favorite corner let them play around it in than got a gbta and right out the box they started hosting, which of course took time....
  17. refugium has done wonders for me the nitrates are undetectable, macro algae is a very good nutrient sponge, no other filter but I have a skimmer, all natural process. "I know you should keep it as low as possible but what's an acceptable range? You say it's a little high but I can't find a definitive scale. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll super clean the sponges in my canister filter and clean the gravel better to get rid of the detrious (water change due this week). I'll definately watch the level prior to getting any more shrimp."
  18. it's the mantle, can cover the whole shell looks very healthy.
  19. I think nurse top off with the resevoir is higher than the tank will work, or drip...
  20. I live five minutes tops from them. They suprised me on how they expanded the saltwater selection. When I first started last year I got damsels from them the only saltwater section they had was the hexagon tank with a few live rocks, hahahaha some prices are awesome and the rest is just like wally's or marine scene. oh yeah thanks for the pistol martin took me awhile to approve but I got it....
