  1. I actually try and buy all of my plumbing supplies online. I absolutely hate digging through the clutter at HD and Lowes. I will gladly pay shipping to avoid that hassle. Heres a good one as well for future reference. Although I don't think they stock clear pvc. http://www.plumbingsupply.com/
  2. USplastics sells clear pvc. It aint cheap. I have never seen clear modular pipe. Actually I would buy it here.
  3. Use Krylon Fusion. The only place that I know of that sells it is WalMart.
  4. I feel smart right now. Well thanks for at least pointing that out to me .
  5. Actually I bounced out of bed this morning so excited about going to see his setup, and my wife woke up sick as a dog. No way I can make it.
  6. My bad, Choose the best and biggest skimmer you can fit in your sump and the highest qualitly you can afford. From what I have heard the big Becketts out perform everything else but, the downside is the powerhungry pump that is needed to drive them. Large Airstone driven skimmers can perform very, very well but the downside to them is that they need to be about 6' tall to work to their potential. IMHO there is no reason to buy a venturi driven skimmer as the needlewheel pumps are proven to be far superior. I would try and find a few people in the club that have a similar setup and see if you can check out their systems and see how the differant skimmers perform and how much space they take up and talk to the owners about the maintenence, product support, and overall happiness of their skimmers. Your welcome to check out my 2 systems and 2 skimmers and see what you think. Dan
  7. I am glad you are here and support us, answer questions and carry items that we want and use. I was not refering to you posting in this thread (although I reread what I wrote and see how it could be taken wrong), and I think you absolutely should post your experiences with equipment and give advise on what to use. It was the where to buy it link that I personally thought was not needed. If the other poster would have asked where to buy an awesome Deltec skimmer from everyone on this board would have given them that link for you including me. Dan
  8. Your right, sorry I just saw he was looking for a skimmer without breaking the bank (post removed). I'd be happy to let someone with the ap-701 borrow my skimmer for a few weeks if they want something to compare it too. Dan on a side note I don't think vendors should be posting in threads like this (even though I really like and support BRK).
  9. Roberts Oxygen on rt 1 accros from potowmac yards.
  10. To properly skim that volume you are looking at $400 as the bare minimum unless you DIY. It is a good investment. Since your are not heavily stocked right now I would add the 8" nw octopus skimmer for $200 and start there. Be sure to leave room in your sump for a second one though (when your bioload becomes larger). Who knows though if you are mainly into softies that may indeed be enough for you.
  11. I'd like to stop by too. This is pretty much the exact size tank I am planning on getting soon and very interested to see the build quality of Glass Cages!
  12. Yep I'll second this one for sure. I got mine 2 weeks ago it smokes anything in that price range.
  13. I went to lowes looking for one and when I couldn't find it decided to DIY. I had to have one RIGHT NOW! So much for the patient reefkeeper
  14. VERY NICE! What kind of camera are you using?
  15. Yep, that's one way to do it. I provided the link to the one you probably have above. Did you find one local?
  16. Whoops I missed the part about 30g. I only saw 36". Yes that is way too much light unless you are going for a clam tank.
  17. I have the Current Outer Orbit HQI fixture and really am liking it. This one.
  18. Thats great. I STRONGLY RECOMEND the relay version as it has proven 100% reliable thus far. And it is actually easier and quicker.
  19. Stopped by JP's this afternoon and now my fate is sealed.........must build one! I knew I would be in trouble if I saw how easy it was and how good it looked in person. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys. Dan
  20. I have a plug in gfci sitting in my closet of unused fish tank items, It worked great for me until I happened to have a extra gfci and just hardwired one in. Bring me a small frag and it's yours.
