I agree with Dave on this one. You run a Ca reactor so a 8.0 ish Ph should be expected. As long as the swing isn't too much you should be fine.
-
OK so for those of us a little behind on the tank tours how about a full tank shot just so we know what we missed .
-
Sorry I forgot, here are the links: http://www.plumbingsupply.com/ http://www.savko.com/ They have plenty laying around

Haha, I had to frag 4000sq/ft of tile so it was cheaper to buy than rent.
-
You can borrow mine.

If anyone wants or needs to frag something big and stoney, I have one of these we can use: Can cut up to 16" wide and 5" thick. ....just thought I would throw that out there..... Dan

That's a really poor way to treat a customer, shame on them. If handled properly they would have had a future customer to sell too, as it was left, there is no doubt that you or your freind will not be returning (like they really needed to tell you not to come back lol).

I still don't understand how a dirty pump is going to cause a trip, faulty I understand. As far as installing a GFCI it is extremely simple. Turn off the breaker, remove old outlet, install new GFCI. The only issue is to determine which set of wires is the "LINE" and which is the "LOAD". They can only be wired one way so it needs to be done right. By far the easiest way to do this is to buy a GFCI that has a little pilot light on it that turns green when wired right and just hook it up one way and turn the circuit on. If it is correct the light will be green and everything is good, if you got it backwards the GFCI will not energize and the light will be yellow, all you need to do is reverse your wiring, and try again. There are other ways to do it but for an extra buck for the lighted outlets it is totally worth it.

How would a dirty pump cause a GFCI to trip?

Looks good. I went the same route: System going first, and just now I am thinking about skinning the stand. What are your livestock and equipment plans for the system?

Did shipment arrive?

new store in Rockville, anyone gone yet?
dandy7200 replied to guppychao's topic in Vendor Experience
I want to check this place out. I think I am heading up to that area next week. Do they have plumbing? Bulkheads in particular. Also what are the store hours and days of the week open? Could you post the address, I am not at all familiar with the area so I must Google for directions. Thanks. -
.5ppm is safe IMHO. I cycled my tank with three full jars of food. My ammonia spike was 8.0ppm or higher (limit of kit) the smell of death reaked through the house. My wife was not impressed. There were both corals and hermit crabs in the tank that hitched a ride from Tonga and there was no way to get them out. The full cycle took three weeks. I still have both the coral and hermits that cycled this tank. They lived through that so I imagine they are some tough cookies. Here is a tank shot at 8.0ppm Nh3.... Man I can still smell it just by looking at that picture. That said, you need to keep a close eye on your tank for the next few weeks. Test, test, test again. You will get quick at testing your tank and then in the future you will be more apt to test because you know how quick it is to do so and you wont even have to read the directions on the kit anymore.

If this were me I would try to try to minimize the effects of the the ammonia (but I would like to know exactly what ammonia level you are detecting), Get a poly filter quickly, moving your fish is going to cause more stress, they can handle a little ammonia, they can also handle a little Amquel, I always keep this on hand for emergency QT. Get a bag of carbon in the system. Macro algae will not help. The bacteria in a bottle might, I would use it if that is what it is. Don't add any more fish. My new system has been up for 4 months and no fish yet. You don't have to wait this long but, it is not a unreasonable amount of time. Hate to break this to you but, your tank IS cycling. Take things very slow right now, be prepared to lose the fish you have in there now. Personnally if the fish floated in my tank I would leave them in there and throw in a bunch of hermit crabs, this would ensure a complete cycle, wait about a month or so and then start restocking. Best of luck.

It is dynamic and you can't post it and get the error message. The second one is from right clicking on the image and copy image location. It is not dynamic, I removed the last bracket so you could see the differance. Nice nano BTW

My power went out last night and my alarm clock didn't go off this morning :( . I hope Johnny puts them to good use (maybe one could get used for the "private collection" so we don't have to torture over the not for sale shelf anymore . -
Did you guys see the stream Spazz on RC made using a Ehiem 1250? 3000gph for less than $100. What do you think that would do to Chips frag tank

This will make you feel better.

Think of it this way. Is it worth the risk of your wife killing you to use your skimmer for 2 weeks? 2 holes in my opinion is enough. 1 overflow and 1 backup. You use a durso on your main and nothing on your backup. Also you leave your backup line mounted above the waterline of your sump. Doing this you can be sure when your main starts to fail you will hear your backup slurping and gurgling away. Are you using other circulation, powerheads? What are your livestock plans? You need to look at some nice reef pictures to make you feel better It's worth it.

$280 is $35 per hole and bulkhead, this is a reasonable amount if you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself. I'm a pretty handy guy but to be honest I myself would probably pay this. If when you say it comes with all the plumbing meaning pvc fittings and pipe.....your darn skippy this is a good price. As for the sump, I wouldn't waste the money there, you can wait for a good used tank to come along and put some baffles in yourself (just gluing as you say), then you are sure it will fit your skimmer etc. HTH.
-
Man, sorry to here. Are you using a syphon overflow box of some sort?
-
Bulk carbon run in a bag is much cheaper regardless of the effects of the bioballs.
-
I thought there were three compartments in your sump. The plan for the fuge out of cube is a good one. If you find you don't have room next to the skimmer (hard to tell in the pic) put some pvc legs on it and suspend it over your return area.

One tank fuge is lit 2am - 10pm. It is a display fuge so I like it off during the hours of 10pm-2am. 20 hours. The other tank fuge is behind cabinet doors and lit 24/7. Growth is about the same.
