  1. We've never lost power before either, so was unprepared (:
  2. So far, the only loss I know of from Sandy is my sand sifting star. We lost power around 7:00 Monday night and got it back on around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. I assume it was from the drop in temo ( 78 to 65ish). Anyone have one they want to get rid of? Anybody else suffer any losses? Haven't seen much on here like usual after power outages.
  3. MH's are brighjt and may cause issues with the TV, but a good choice if you are not concerned with it interfering witht he TV picture/extra light.
  4. Ryan S - pulled and felt water flowing but still nothing. It has to be the pump. All lines clear. Even brand new I never got tumble. I see there is a 1600 mod - will that give me more power. My reactandt has never tumbled..."Lemon Law"? Is there a more powerful pump that will fit the slip on and slide connect? TIA
  5. I blew out the hose and seemed clean, but I will check again. Any advice on how to unhook the connections. Can't seem to disconect the shutoffs.
  6. I have a BRS Dual (GFO/Carbon) reactor and the suggested MJ1200 pump just isn't doing it. Changed out the media and cleaned everything this evening and the pump is so weak, it won't even fill the chambers. Filled both with water, and still nothing. Is there a pump that will fit on w/o mod that will actually tumble and pump water thru the dual reactor? The MJ 1200 is a weak POS.....thanks.
  7. Unfortunately, they are back in full vengeance :(
  8. I have pink Xenia that have spread throughout my tank to the point I need to get rid of it. Today, I noticed it all changed from pink to white with dark stripes. Any idea what may have caused this? Is it dying, or am I just not that lucky. My skimmer pump died two days ago. Could this be the issue? I thought Xenia liked dirty water. Thanks for any thoughts!
  9. I have an out of control bubble algae issue that I am trying to get under control in my 90g. I bought a few Emerald crabs and either I need 10x's the number I bought, or they just aren't eating it. I initially didn't react because I've never had an issue before, but now it is getting ridiculous. When I try to rmove clumps, many burst which increases the problem. Any suggestions?????Thanks
  10. I started one about 22 years ago. I think the first page has some random scribble on it..
  11. OK, thanks. I have a 90g with 30g sump/fuge mixed reef. I have all the test kits, just been lazy lately. Will take everyone's advice and start the regimen.
  12. Every morning I dose 1 squirt (BRK 2 part pump) Alk and 1 squirt Cal and a quick small pour of Kalk mix. I never really tested my levels but everything is doing great look and growth wise. Am I wasting money by being lazy and probably overdosing? Any good methods without getting too techincal on how much I should be dosing? Don't want to make the hobby more expensive than it already is by being lazy and stupid.....
  13. I prefer open with a screen top from BRS in case of jumpers...
  14. That's it, thanks. I assume its harmless, but not the most attractive sponge!
  15. It is fibrous but pure white. I added a better pic from top down view, but still small.
  16. Can someone please take a look and let me know what this is. It is the consistency of a smushy sponge (not as firm as say a ball sponge and is fingered throughout the rock crevices. I have always had this stuff in my tank but usually it was under rocks or in a more shaded area. This stuff gets a lot of lite and is thriving. I always assumed it was just a sponge but want to make sure. Thanks!
  17. +1 on Bulk Reef Supply. The extra thick works better than any other I've tried.
  18. I have two prizms you can use.
  19. I knew it was a gamble but have had good luck in the past. Doesn't look like this guy is going to cooperate. Just got some fresh Nori, but have a feeling my next Wamas post will be "How to catch/remove a Lemonpeel?"
  20. I purchased a Lemonpeel Angerl and he's a beauty, but of course I have one that likes to nip. He is constantly nipping one of my SPS' (4 pieces of same coral. I love the fish but my question is, do certain fish prefer certain corals. I have come to the realization that he will kill this coral, but afterwards will he stop or ,move to his next favorite coral? I have LPS, SPS, some softies/mushrooms and a RBTA. I thoiught they preferred LPS but this one is terrorizing my one type of SPS (can't remember what is is. Any help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
  21. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+34+191&pcatid=191 Not sure but maybe a Blood Red Hawkfish
  22. I am astarting to get a few clumps of Hair Algae in my tank. Also have had bubble algae spreading since receiving a frag with it. Have been manually removing bubble algea but some places are hard to reach. I am asking for suggestions on fish/inverts that will offer the highest chance of success in removing both H/A and B/A? Tank is 90g RR w/ 30 sump/fuge. LPS/SPS/Shrooms with Sand Sifting goby, citron goby, small Spiny Box Fish. Thanks for your suggestions.
