  1. Yikes... glad you got home ok, though.
  2. When I read their help section for the service, it says that a person does not have to sign in but I don't think that is actually the case. Hmmmmm....
  3. So, I signed up for Google's Picasa Web Album and posted some pics. They are at: http://picasaweb.google.com/ericbrian Do you have to sign in to view them? Or, am I just having 'issues?' The Picasa client uploaded them for me but it seems that one has to have a Google account to view the public albums. Just wanted to know. Thanks. Eric
  4. Well then, welcome back!
  5. You could also get a tiger/sand conch. I got one from BRK... I think they had one there last weekend. Those guys with their are like vaccuum cleaners for an aquarium!
  6. 1) I prefer glass. Easier to clean the glass. I think it comes down to preference, really. 3) I have a HOB filter to run carbon should I need to. But otherwise, it is off. I do weekly water changes instead. You might want to ask about skimmers in this post unless you already know all about them.
  7. Thank you Howard. I am assuming, you mean the tank equiment and not photo equipment. Those SPS are in my 12g Aquapod. I am still using the original pump. Light is 150 watt 20,000K double-ended HQI metal halide lamp from Coralife. That is it. This is the light:
  8. heheheh... well, I'll make you an honorary owner of my tank so you don't have to change your nick.
  9. Cool! Jean-Marie, good to hear from you. Are you going to be at the BBQ this weekend at BRK? You are still a member, yes?
  10. Thanks for having a look. I got the that one from Marvin when I went back.
  11. Ok, since I am having problems with my yumas, I decided to post some pics of my SPS. I believe they are doing well and growing. Can you have a look and tell me if you see any signs of stress? I am a bit paranoid now. Thanks. Eric
  12. Here are pics of my floridas These are getting bigger and are eating nicely.
  13. I target feed my floridas and they eat great. (I am getting ready to post pics of them.) The yumas aren't accepting anything to eat like the floridas will. Can you suggest a way to feed them other than holding something meaty to their mouths?
  14. Here are the pics... Dang, this is sad. :(
  15. The grey/purple one turned light pink. One of the baby's on the same rock died. The red sundial ones look as though they are melting. Here, too, all of the baby ones died. Photos followin shortly....
  16. Yeah, checked all the usual stuff. I am puzzled. Yumas a mushrooms and I have other ricordeas in my tank that are doing great! Inna is kind enough to hold them for me. Hopefully they will recover.
  17. Absolutely... why should we error on the side of caution? We most likely won't be arround to witness anything catastrophic. Future generations? Ah, who cares?
  18. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/06/22...g.ap/index.html Study: Earth 'likely' hottest in 2,000 years Thursday, June 22, 2006; Posted: 2:12 p.m. EDT (18:12 GMT) WASHINGTON (AP) -- It has been 2,000 years and possibly much longer since the Earth has run such a fever. The National Academy of Sciences, reaching that conclusion in a broad review of scientific work requested by Congress, reported Thursday that the "recent warmth is unprecedented for at least the last 400 years and potentially the last several millennia." A panel of top climate scientists told lawmakers that the Earth is heating up and that "human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming." Their 155-page report said average global surface temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere rose about 1 degree during the 20th century. This is shown in boreholes, retreating glaciers and other evidence found in nature, said Gerald North, a geosciences professor at Texas A&M University who chaired the academy's panel. The report was requested in November by the chairman of the House Science Committee, Rep. Sherwood Boehlert, R-New York, to address naysayers who question whether global warming is a major threat. Last year, when the House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman, Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, launched an investigation of three climate scientists, Boehlert said Barton should try to learn from scientists, not intimidate them. Boehlert said Thursday the report shows the value of having scientists advise Congress. "There is nothing in this report that should raise any doubts about the broad scientific consensus on global climate change," he said. Other new research Thursday showed that global warming produced about half of the extra hurricane-fueled warmth in the North Atlantic in 2005, and natural cycles were a minor factor, according to Kevin Trenberth and Dennis Shea of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, a research lab sponsored by the National Science Foundation and universities. Their study is being published by the American Geophysical Union. The Bush administration has maintained that the threat is not severe enough to warrant new pollution controls that the White House says would have cost 5 million Americans their jobs. (Watch as lawmakers argue saving the planet could ruin our economy-- 2:24) Climate scientists Michael Mann, Raymond Bradley and Malcolm Hughes had concluded the Northern Hemisphere was the warmest it has been in 2,000 years. Their research was known as the "hockey-stick" graphic because it compared the sharp curve of the hockey blade to the recent uptick in temperatures and the stick's long shaft to centuries of previous climate stability. The National Academy scientists concluded that the Mann-Bradley-Hughes research from the late 1990s was "likely" to be true, said John "Mike" Wallace, an atmospheric sciences professor at the University of Washington and a panel member. The conclusions from the '90s research "are very close to being right" and are supported by even more recent data, Wallace said. The panel looked at how other scientists reconstructed the Earth's temperatures going back thousands of years, before there was data from modern scientific instruments. For all but the most recent 150 years, the academy scientists relied on "proxy" evidence from tree rings, corals, glaciers and ice cores, cave deposits, ocean and lake sediments, boreholes and other sources. They also examined indirect records such as paintings of glaciers in the Alps. Combining that information gave the panel "a high level of confidence that the last few decades of the 20th century were warmer than any comparable period in the last 400 years," the academy said. Overall, the panel agreed that the warming in the last few decades of the 20th century was unprecedented over the last 1,000 years, though relatively warm conditions persisted around the year 1000, followed by a "Little Ice Age" from about 1500 to 1850. The scientists said they had less confidence in the evidence of temperatures before 1600. But they considered it reliable enough to conclude there were sharp spikes in carbon dioxide and methane, the two major "greenhouse" gases blamed for trapping heat in the atmosphere, beginning in the 20th century, after remaining fairly level for 12,000 years. Between 1 A.D. and 1850, volcanic eruptions and solar fluctuations were the main causes of changes in greenhouse gas levels. But those temperature changes "were much less pronounced than the warming due to greenhouse gas" levels by pollution since the mid-19th century, it said. The National Academy of Sciences is a private organization chartered by Congress to advise the government of scientific matters.
  19. S/he should just sell the whole house.... that would probably be easier.
  20. Ok, the yumas that I bought are not doing well in either of my tanks. I am looking for somebody who has yumas in their tank and would be willing to hold mine until I figure out what is going on? Maybe even get them healthy again? Thanks. Eric
  21. Very nice. How big is this new tank? And, how big was your last tank?
  22. Cool. So you just going to drywall around it. Good idea.
  23. Hehehe... I just sent you a PM asking if that was you! LOL Yes, great meeting you. And, of course, since it is father's day, you deserve that nice zoa colony you were eyeing today! Eric
  24. While making my F&F and BRK round today, I saw the Sohal tangs at BRK... and, they are they are beautiful. Makes me want to get a 120 gal tank! LOL
  25. Yeah, I was there today and Sean got some really nice stuff in.
