  1. I've seen a few pics of people with clamp on lights for their refugium. I went to Lowes and Target and couldn't find them. The ones shown here in this pic: Where can I find these???
  2. If its inside the tank, then maybe I'd worry. I have that exact one and it hasn't been an issue at all in my sump.
  3. Aweseome fish. If I had know that Jack had that fish I would've gotten it myself. Doh!!
  4. Here you go Jason, so good pics to follow from. http://www.autotopoff.com/products/ST1/index.htm
  5. How were their prices?
  6. I have that exact setup and its pretty good. I've had it now for 3 years and no problems to date (knock on wood). Its a little cheaper now than when I got it too.
  7. The red goni is my favorite. I've been lookning for a piece of that for a while. Very nice.
  8. Even if you link them from a photobucket account??
  9. Very nice. That blenny looks MEAN!!!!
  10. Its only been available for around a month or so, I'm not surprised nobody here has them yet. You should just send it back to ecotech and get the new propeller upgrade. Its supposed to be completely enclosed now and water tight, so that way the inside parts won't degrade. They say its supposed to do away with having to replace that plate inside. Totally worth the $10 in my opinion.
  11. I calibrated the lab grade (about 6 months old) and it read the same. I even hooked up my spare pH probe and it reads withing .01-.02 of the 6 month old one. I thought the same. How can I have high Alk and low pH??
  12. I use a Kalk reactor. I had an incident that pushed too much kalk in the tank, and my Ca went to about 550 and Alk to about 14dKh. Its been slowly lowering and what 480 and 11.2. My Mag was 1300 when tested about a week ago. I don't think its a CO2 problem because nothing really happens to the pH when I open the door about 5 feet from the tank. I've left the door open for a couple hours and it raise the pH maybe .01-.02 points. I've freaking stumped. I made a new batch of fresh saltwater today. I guess I'll test the pH and parameters of this batch. This getting old :(
  13. So I just did a 30gal water change. I get back to my computer and notice my pH has dropped to 7.3!!!! It was only 7.55-7.6 in the first place (been battling low pH the past month or so). I have a heater and maxijet mod in the 40gal brute trashcan I use for water changes. The MJ mod kicks out ~2000gph, so the water was far from stagnant. Why in the world would have the pH of the waterchange water have been so low?? Should I leave the top off the trashcan a few hours before I make the water change?? Does anyone else have to do this?? This low pH thing is really starting to suck.
  14. No need to say anymore, Vinegar it is. And for what its worth, I got a free bottle of the E-Z clean stuff from the guy I got my deltec from, and it is pretty darn good.
  15. Brilliant!!!!
  16. You've got heaters for the fish and corals right? The water in those buckets will cool down way faster than you think. Or I guess you could just stick them outside right, barring the temp being around 80 degrees.
  17. I'm glad this guy found a new home. That was one of the largest banggai cardinals I've ever seen. What an upgrade for that guy!! From an 60gal hex to a 500gal monster. Its gotta be loving life.
  18. Nerds make the world go round Barring a trauma ( or ) coming into the Hospital, I'll be here at 9pm.
  19. Can't go wrong with some GSP in the predator tank.
  20. I think you'd be fine for most stuff except for some of the really high demanding sps. Expect to keep any sps directly under the bulbs and not too far from the surface.
  21. That's exactly right. If I hook up a skimmer to the water change water I just made, I wouldn't get any skimmate out of that either. There's simply nothing to pull out. When I sold my 3 blue hippo tangs out of my 92gal reef, I saw a noticeable decrease in the amount of skimmate production that my skimmer pulled out. Less organics in, less organics out.
  22. Nice thing about upgrading from a 55 to a 90 is that you can keep the same lights since the tanks are the same length. Tagging along to see your progress......
  23. So there is nothing but one hermit crab in the water that you're trying to skim?? If you only have a hermit crab in the QT, how do you expect the skimmer to be pulling anything out? Skimmers pull out organic material (fish pee and poop, excess food, etc). If you don't have any livestock putting out organic material, there won't be anything for the skimmer to collect. Put that skimmer on your main tank and see if it pulls out anything. Another possibility is that the skimmer may need time to "break in". I experienced this with my ASM skimmer.
  24. Its only $3 more for 1000 sheets of grade C if you want to upgrade. Are know your fish are spoiled with all that room, but are they nutrition snobs as well??
  25. You could drill the hole in the top of the lid to the cup instead of the main chamber. Right in the middle of the lid so the air line can air tubing can hang down in the body. That way you can clean off the air stone everytime you empty out the cup. Not sure how it would effect the skimmate bubble in the neck though. If it did have a negative effect, it'd be pretty easy to fix a hole in the lid though.
