Fair question. I fed yesterday and I saw him track down the food but never ingested it. Havent been spending a lot of time with tank this summer so may be longer but pretty sure just started this week. From the quick looks l get into its mouth, it looks like something dark is in there. Not even sure what it would be. What is odd it he seems to be just fine otherwise. Very active and swimming around.

I was thinking a straightened paperclip. My fear is lodging it further into its mouth.

I have a clownfish that can’t close its mouth. It looks like there is something stuck in there. The problem is he is still active and trying to feed which makes it hard to see what's in there or catch him. I may try tonight after lights out. However, what can I or should I do if I DO catch him?

Maybe check your makeup water and filters. Any chance your son is feeding also?

Experience says there are no absolutes in this hobby. My foxfaces NEVER ate the bubbles nor did the emeralds...or at least never ate enough to notice a difference. I have to agree with Rob. Manual removal is the best course of action. Ultimately you need to figure out where the excess nutrients are coming from and limit that. What do you have a for a CUC now? Skimmer? What kind of water? When was the last time your changed filters? Maybe add some hermits to get any food that settles in your rock. With such a small volume just a few pieces of food left uneaten may be the cause. Try the manual removal right before a water change. Scoop out any free floating bubbles. The water change will reduce the spores in the water column. Do that for a few weeks and see if it helps. GL

Your ph is fine. That swing is normal. I would not dose kalk just to increase ph.

I agree with the rubble pile. I think you might be surprised that you do have pods in the tank. Agree to wait until after upgrade, plus some time to grow a healthy population.
