    my 10gl. upgrade

Don't use DC water, I would check Wally's for live rock, typically good stuff. Nice goby.

    Super Petz

It is the worst pet store ever, in my opinion. In all catagories, exept price-but who cares if your not buying.
  3. Oops, I ment photosynthetic gorgonian, I do still feed it though-along with the rest of my corals. It would eat the same as your feather worm. Just come on over, we'll frag some corals. I am off Sun/mon and work evenings the rest of the week.
  4. 6D-7D? Hmm isn't that over in PG county somewhere:)
  5. I havn't been able to post photos, something with my lack of computer skills and apple/pc based software. $10.00 for rock, about baseball sized-the other wouldn't fit in a three gallon-I would frag it off, $10.00, Zena free with other rocks and mushroom, $2.00 per-I'll have to chip them off large rocks. Sea grass, free with other stuff. a none-photosynthetic gorgorgian that would fit well, $10.00-very healthy. Other easy care soft corals in my tank for the fragging.
  6. I have a couple of polyp rocks, good for lowlight. I also have some mushrooms, zenia, and sea grass, all would go in that tank.
  7. Ha, I'm a Third Distric narcotics officer, the bullets fly around 5th and O, 7th and O and lots of other areas of 3D. The only good part is that they miss each other more than they hit-too bad for the cars and houses in the area. Correction, one hit on Saturday, killed. Always a bad thing to happen, having been on the scenes of several homicides its always a disturbing event.

    NEW

Kalkwasser drip will help your ph level, along with two part suplements. I don't use any filters on my reef tank, just a protien skimmer. No sponges on the pumps either. Plus I have a large sump and refugium. 75g display with a 55g sump (about 40g in in reserve) and a 33g refugium. I have a kalkreactor on it which has made all the difference in the world for coral growth. Don't forget to feed the 'pods, they like DTs and phyto feast.
  9. One trip there was all it took for me.
  10. Man, I hope your tank isn't near a window. Too many bullets flying around that area of town for a fish tank to be safe:). More around 7th and O St, but none the less.
  11. I had to go to Super Petz for a part. I was depressing to see how bad the salt water tanks looked. Too bad Atlantis and BRK are so far away.
  12. My wife barred me from going back, or anymore corals for that matter. Something about buying a house.
  13. Posting photographs exceeds my tech abilities.
  14. That being said, it you're committed to the hex tank, put your money into a good skimmer. I tried a bunch of the bargain skimmers out there such as ASM and the Coralife Super Skimmer and guess what........I sold them for 1/2 of what I paid for them and now have a Euro-reef. Again, this hobby is about patience and getting what you pay for. I, as well as all the other members will be happy to help you out so don't hesitate to ask. Welcome to the club!! Yep, cheap stuff is soon to be junk in a closet. Go quality on the water filter, skimmer and live rock. When going for lights go for what you think your aquarium will need in a year, it saves a PC fixture in the closet.
  15. My first visit to Atlantis Aquariums, one of the best LFS I have set foot in. Came back from Richmond with 8 new corals-all look great. Fragged out from the Ubermeersaltz tank. Neat stuff.
  16. That'll go over well with my wife, $200.00.
  17. Has anybody delt with this vendor? I am thinking about driving out there and stocking up on frags. Worth the drive, or just pay the shipping?
  18. Does the banner fish bother your SPS? I would like to add some in my tank but worry about them picking apart the SPS.
  19. I would go with the 180 from Walleys. That way you can stock the tank at will and not have as many changes in the water parameters. The afore mentioned 55s would make a great sump and the 75 would make a great refugium, lots of water. Personally, I try to match the volume of water with fish with the volume of water without fish-more or less. Can't go wrong with a big sump and a big refugium with macro algea.
  20. I have a trigger fish that would help you with your snails.
  21. Walleys has cardinal fish for online prices, three are mine so back off! Thomas was kind enough to house them until I am ready to put them in my tank, after being treated and quarentined at Walleys. Marine Scene quality, online pricing. Oops wrong colum, I don't know how to move the post.
  22. I picked up a copy of the new journal "C" The journal of science, travel and adventure published by Anthony Calfo reading trees publication. It is a good read, not just fish stuff but semi-related to fish/reef keeping in general. Well written with great photographs of reefs and other topics. I might just subscribe to it for christmas. www.readingtrees.com Wally's has some copies left.
  23. In the 75g section of my system I have a yellow tang, a trigger and a lawnmower blennie. In the 36g I have a bunch of fish, copper band, kole tang, gobies and a clown fish-kinda backwards but the general fish mass of the 75g is greater than the 36 and Trigger and Tang are antisocial (but seem to like each other just fine-maybe from the HI reef days, who knows).
  24. I stopped by today and got some former WAMAS member frags, look great. Wallys is really looking good these days, nice to get locally grown frags at a retail store.
  25. Grow lots of aptasia and then kill them all in one afternoon, Joes juice makes the ph go way up. I target my tank at 8.3, using kalkwasser, and A/B (when I have it due to costs) I also mix and dose alk stuff with RO/DI water. Nice coraline algae growth, sps, lps and soft corals are growing. Hair algae is there but not too bad. I also change out 30gallons in a 150g system about every two weeks.
