  1. except for the "superman" aiptasia, the one i had cleared all of them plus all my feather dusters. It died when i was on vacation, however i believe it starved to death since there was no more aiptasia nor feather dusters left for it to eat. imo they are beautiful fish and in your 240 i think it would do fine, plus you wouldnt have to keep up the kalk another less thing to worry about. worth a try good luck
  2. would getting a copperband bf have the same nitrate effects as killing them with kalk or whatever other pastes you use? is a CBF even an option for you?
  3. i agree as well, however if you do decide go with ATI, reefgeek.com is a dealer. they say max tank depth is 24 to 36 in, plus they are a bit pricey over 1200 for one 36 inch 10 bulb set up
  4. wanted to give credit where credit is due. wanted to get a achilles tang and pmed John about a month ago. John immediately got back to me and stated that they were hard to get and told me to check to keep checking the stock list. Well about a month or so went by and i get this pm from John that stated he got some in. WOW!!! i even forgot i pmed him in the first place!!! great follow up and great service!!!!!

  9. [ quote name=jason the filter freak' date='Mar 28 2008, 03:44 PM' post='184797] An aqua timer you can purchase at Home Depot or Lowes would have saved you this issue. From a guy who has delt with leaking issues sorry to hear it. i concur, its the timer they use to for watering the grass, no electric componets, only drawcak is the max time is 120 minutes.
  10. noticed a large black brittle star one night, I only see the legs which are about 6 inches long. Are they okay for a reef tank? I hear they are detrius eaters

  12. how do you know if a specific frag is a LE Tyree? what proof is there? why cant someone sell a nice looking frag and label it a tyree? if it changes color, then that person can say it must be your lighting, water parameters, etc I dont mind the lineage but how can you be sure that you are truly buying something that is labeled "tyree" or from some exotic place? just being devils advocate
  13. post some pics would be great!!

  18. I have had mine for 4-5 years now, it's about 6-8 inches long. I had first in a tank with sand, and they like to dig and make channels. now i have a bare bottom tank, and he just hids in the rock very shy fish, slow and seems that his eyesight is not so great either, have to hand feed it sometimes since the other fish eat the food faster than he can find
  19. i have one, i can sell it for $10, or trades of some interesting coral, sps/ric i can bring to the social on the 16th here is similiar to what i have http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~BSAMK.html let me know
  20. question, bit confused about the wattage requirements for different uv sterilzers. for example: the "twist" states that the 18 watt one is good for up to 250 gal tank however the "aqua" states that the 25 watt one is good for up to 150 gal tank. then you have the "Current" states that the 40 watt is good for up to 200 gal tank. i know each different UV uses different bulbs, T5, compact, vho? is that the difference? any have a 180 gal mixed reef with a small amount of fish total 7, will add at most 10 in the future. because the price vary among the sterilizers, which would you pick? the cheapest one? and there are the no name brands on ebay, but i would stay clear of those unless someone had a good experience with it any help would be appreciated thanks
  21. I had 2 leopard wrasses for a couple of years in different tanks, both of them committed suicide and jumped out of the tank after being in the tank for quite some time in one tank i had some sand, however in another it was barebottom, both ate osi spirilena flakes but had to coach them to eat. good luck, great fish!!!
