  1. So I went and made some purchases today. I ended up going with a -Mr Aqua 22 gallon Low Iron -Vertex Omega 130 -Skimz Sumpro UP34 -Tunze 3155 ATO -However instead of going with the Neptune apex, I decided to take the risk and pre-order the VERTEX CEREBRA PRIMA controller. I will be adding photos throughout this build as soon as I have something to take pictures of.
  2. Finally thought I would show a build of mine and what better way than to start a brand new one. Decided to build a shallow sps tank using the 22 gallon. Equipment I will be buying: -Mr Aqua 22 Gallon (36x12x12) -DIY Stand -Vertex Omega 130 Protein Skimmer -Skimz UP34 Acrylic Sump -Tunze 3155 ATO System -2 BRS 1.1ml Dosers -2 Dimmable 165watt LED lights. Although I thought I was gonna go with something else, I have always used this and it's worked for me. -Neptune system Apex Classic All other little things; wave maker, heaters, live rock, coral will be coming from a 50 gallon cube that I currently have and will be gifting to my mom and if not, selling it. Anyone who has any feedback on the list of items I will be buying and has any suggestions, would be great!
  3. Yeah I think I might go with a kit from rapid led whether it be the dual Aurora puck kit with a controller or just 3 watt LED's (20 or so) with a 2 t5 bulb retrofit dimmable kit on the sides.
  4. I'm really leaning towards having some t5 and I'm wondering if going with a 3ft dimmable ati 4 bulb would be overkill or not. Either that or going with what Matt said and going with some type of retrofit t5 kit and led strip.
  5. Well I will be taking the rock out of my 50 gallon cube that has tons of healthy Sps which are already acclimated to LED's. However because the footprint of this tank is a little odd I want to make sure I can continue growing Sps in it but also have a nice looking fixture. I don't mind turning down LED's but I also don't want a diy looking fixture because this tank will be going into my home office.
  6. Looking for a light that would look good over a Mr Aqua 22 gallon (36x12x12) SPS dominated tank. I have always kept my corals under China made 120watt fixtures since it was cost effective and still produced great growth and colors. However I do not like how bulky the fixtures would be with a tank this footprint. I'm debating as to what I should add whether it be led or t5. Any insight would be great since lighting is one of those things that I never played around with.
  7. The other choices could be either an aquamaxx coneS CO-1 or the smaller sized aquamaxx WS-1? Any help would be great.
  8. I will be starting another build which will be most likely Sps dominated in a 22 gallon long with a 20 gallon sump. I want to try and use only quality equipment. I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas as to a high end skimmer for this build. Personally I'm leaning towards the vertex omega 130 but I'm not sure if it's overdoing it. Thanks.
  9. Im thinking about looking into a small tank such as the innovative marine 25 gallon lagoon style tank. There wasn't a ton of info on this tank but saw some great reviews for this tank in particular but my concern was that people had a lot of leaking issues from the nuvo style which is from the same company. But then again that was with some of their older tanks. Any thoughts?
  10. The title already sums it up. I have always been a big believer in that company strives when their customer service is great. So that to me is the first thing I look for as I will not conduct any kind of business if the owners are arrogant or unjoyable. The hobby is meant to be fun and for your experiences to be shared with others so that people can progress. Point I am making, is that I received it all from exotic reef creations. From the moment I asked what the company was about to to the moment I picked up to amazing designer clownfish. Dealing with them was easy and they were willing to help wherever they could. Would recommend this company to anyone any day!!!
  11. Ok I understand. It was for reef purposes but I do agree and that did cross my mind before posting it. So my apologies
  12. I have a quarantine with corals and I treated them for red bugs and black bugs. Wanted to know if anyone had interceptor so that if for any reason that they make it to my display which I doubt, I will be ready to treat the display.. Anyone near Rockville md who might have some would be great. Couldn't find any anywhere not even at the vets.
  13. So I have a 50 gallon cube dedicated to Sps. After not quarantining my new fish ( my dumb mistake) I noticed my clownfish appeared to have marine velvet. My royal gramma is starting to scratch up against sand and rocks. Some people said it might be ick but I don't think so since the appearance looks like white dust which clown seems to have it bad. It's been this way for a few weeks which is strange since everyone says it will kill very fast but all my fish eat like pigs still. I'm setting up a quarantine as we speak and will keep the display tank free of fish for 8 to 10 weeks but I am not sure how to treat it. Copper seems to be the best method but I'm afraid it will kill my coris wrasse and Melanurus wrasse. Any advice as to how I should go about it would truely mean a lot. Little background of the fish I have and how they are acting Clownfish covered in white dust (especially visible under moon lights) but still eating and been 3 weeks Royal gramma few spots and scratching against but still eats Melanurus wrasse and coris wrasse unaffected Fire fish unaffected
