  1. Wow. I guess sometimes it's good to stay old-schooled.
  2. As a buyer and seller, I haven't had any bad experiences from CL. Knock on wood. As a buyer, I have better outcome through Reef Central than WAMAS. Here, I've met with quite a few misrepresentations of the products. And worse, IMO, the seller sold the product while we were in the process of arranging the pick up place and time. I chalk it up to greed and lack of principles. However, WAMAS also gives me the opportunity to meet a handful of really awesome reef enthusiasts, and I appreciate that. That's why I'm still a member.
  3. Wow, gorgeous. What is that red bushy thing in the back............dragon breath?
  4. We just moved to a new home recently. I didn't have my RODI setup, so I was using tap water for the first 2-3 months. No skimmer, no reactors. I swear, I saw my softies (hammer, zenia, kenya, zoas and GSP...) double in size. And, so did the algae.......
  5. Just watched the video for the first time, and I laughed myself to tears. Thanks for sharing.
  6. For the first six months or so after setting up my tank, my salinity was anywhere between 1.035-1.041. I was given a faulty refractometer and didn't realize it. Fish I got from the store and wamas members all got hit with that salinity right away (no acclimation). They're all still alive today. Most corals didn't make it pass the first week of putting them in the tank. OTH, Aiptasia thrive. It goes to show how fish can adapt.
  7. Dang. I came across a few "shady" and "misrepresented" stuffs from wamas members, but this is a new low. I guess some people need to steal to stay in a hobby. I've met edress714 2-3 times. I've bought some stuffs from him. I've also got some free corals from him. Nice guy. Always appreciate him helping out a new guy like me.Thanks again.
  8. I wonder if it varies between stores. But it's definitely worth a try. Thanks for the info.
  9. I hope they do this on every major holiday so we can time our purchase. I got two buckets from the last sale. So I'm good for a year or so.
  10. Wow, that was fast. As of 10mins ago, stores in Fairfax and Falls Church still have some.
  11. I just checked..........Petsmart is having 50% off on salt buckets (160gal) , IO and CR. Run to the stores before they run out. Good luck.
  12. It's indeed disturbing. I really hope it was just a case of mistaken identity. I had my in-law picked it up for me in Philly two days later using just the printed receipt from my email. But I have to say that I have bought quite a few used stuffs on WAMAS, and only one or two of them are true to their advertised descriptions. I've also missed out on some great deals because the sellers stopped contacting me once I asked for detailed descriptions of the items. Any honest seller would not hesitate to disclose the merchandise true descriptions. But, I guess it is what it is.
  13. I just saw this ads on craigslist; https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/hsh/5619369155.html I don't know if it's legit or not. But, hopefully, someone here can benefit from that generous offer. DVD
  14. Yeah. I believe it ended on the 30th. Big thanks to the OP, I was able to grab one bucket.
  15. I've been to Petco in Fairfax and three (wamas) sponsors' stores, and they all have aiptasia. Not widespread in every tank, but they're there.
  16. Yeah, it's pretty hard to decide which is enough until you put them in your tank and see the flow yourself. Hopefully, you bought them from amazon. They have good prices and pretty good return/exchange policy.
  17. If the RW4 is similar in power to an MP10, then I would say two won't be enough for a 75G. I have mp10's on my 40B, and they're just enough, IMO.
  18. If I have to do it over, I'll go with the programmable black boxes like Ocean Revive and sbreef lights. That way I can ramp up the light gradually. Seems more natural that way.
  19. Thanks for the info. My light is only about 12 inches above water, and the bottom my tank is roughly 15 inches below the water line. I took the optic off and set the intensity to 30% blue and 15-20% white. Sorry to the OP for going off subject a little bit.
  20. I notice you hang the black box 24 inches above water. Do you mind me asking how deep below water is the sand? And how high is the intensity? I have the 300w 32inches long model, and I'm still trying to figure out the intensity for my 40B. Thanks
  21. Now that's a revelation. Considering how successful you are with reef tanks, I thought you would have a killer sump system. And here I am blaming my failure to grow corals on the absent of a sump.
  22. The thing about HOB filters, especially an oversized ones, is that they tend to produce noise,. It's whether from the the motor/impeller vibration or the fall of the output water, Maybe it's just my luck, but all of my Aquaclear filters (20, 70 and 110) are noisy. In term of quietness, I much prefer a canister filter.
  23. I'ld like to know that, too. On a side note, I thought UV is anything below 400nm. Amazon lists Ai Prime as UV at 405nm!?!?!?
