  1. Iv been having some issues with the TapTalk app lately. Iv had to delete it and reinstall it a few times. You can try again now. I have the tank and everything taken down and fish and some of the rock in a 5 gal bucket for now. Getting the space cleaned up before deciding how to move forward. Of course when it rains it pours. I just spent $5k on building a new deck so funds and tapped for anything for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Woke up this morning and found my 28gal bio cube leaking from what looks like a bottom seal. I don’t have funds for a new set up at the moment so I’ll need to rehome my fish and take all this down. Not much live stock: 1 clown about 1.5”, yellow watchman goby, feather duster, and the live rock. I live in Alexandria va 22306 any one able to help? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I was afraid of that but glad you don’t notice anything threatening. I read of a few medication that state they are “reef/invertebrate safe” but have polarizing reviews so I’d figure I’d ask here. Thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’m looking for invertebrate safe ich treatments. My tank (28 gal biocube) has been running for about 9 years never had a single of ich at all. My friend is getting out of the hobby for a while so I added a Coral Beauty from my friends tank about 3 weeks ago. I did not notice anything on the fish when I added him but about two weeks ago I’m noticing some Ich looking spots. He’s eat just fine and seems in affected, no other fish are showing signs. Iv tried all garlic and ginger oils with turning the temp up to 85 but the spots are still there. I don’t have expensive corals I’m just looking for a treatment that is safe for my pistol shrimp. I have two clowns, watchman goby and pistol shrimp. mushrooms and toad stool leather for coral
  5. I turned off all my pumps while i manually removed as much as I could then try to get what ever was floating around with a net before I would do my water changes. I also stocked extra snails and emerald crabs. After a few months it was all gone. But I only have a 28gal cube so it’s a bit easier to manage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have a Kessil A360W programed with the spectral controller that keeps turning off befor its cicle in over or it wont turn on when it starts. the set up is getting old, I got it used off someone on WAMAS about 6 years ago so its probably time for a new set up but if its fixable id like to find a solution though. if I unplug the power box for a few seconds for it to discharge then pug it back in the light will turn back on and it will work fine for a day or two. anyone have any sugestions on what to do? Thanks
  7. I have a Kessil 360 with spectrum controller that keeps turning off. The light and controller are about 5 years old. The only way to get it back on is to unplug and plug the ballast back in. But it happens every day. I’ve cleaned the dust out of the light assembly and still having the issue. Anyone have a suggestion on fixing this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I started out with and still have a 28gal bio cube all in one tank. I feel it’s the best size where it’s large enough to have good size fish and coral but not overwhelming or complicated for maintaining and water changes. Difficult but definitely not impossible to keep SPS in smaller tanks like that though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I believe bulk reef supply had a good video on a general set up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Reef escape escape is in Fairfax. They quarantines there live stock before putting them in the sell tanks and they have been good with fulfilling live orders. There prices I’ve found to be slightly higher but I feel it’s worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Where is local? Iv had very good experience with Reef Escape, Supreme Reefs, and Centerville Aquarium. Centerville has a larger inventory or fish but not corals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I don’t have personal experience but my buddy had a septic tank and he said dumping salt water in it is a big no no. He just had a part of his yard that he didn’t care about and dumped it there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yikes is right! Bummer to hear about that. What would you say the overall care and maintenance is for them? Did you decide to rebuild after the epic bucket destruction? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hello WAMAS any of you have experience with Jellyfish setups? Im thinking of doing one but not sure if I’d get a prefabricated set up or do something myself. Probably wouldn’t be lager then 20 gal do to the space I have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I have a small goldfish pond in my backyard (about 150 gal), I use it to top that off. I have never had issues. It is heavily planted so I feel the pants do a lot of filtering. The only time Iv lost a fish is when a raccoon or something get in. I definitely don’t think I would use it for a small indoor tank. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. So I’m setting up a chaeto reactor and just need a light source now. The reviews for most of the LED strips on amazon are bad they say the power box burn out quick. Anyone have experience or a link to where I can find a reliable one? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I was actually on BRS today looking at other test kits. I suppose I could does my ATO with Kalkwasser but obviously need to get accurate test reading first. I was just really surprised that they were all looking really well one day and had been for 2 weeks then after glueing them bleached in 3 days. Something I read on line said sometimes acros just really don’t like being removed from the water even just for a short time. Stressed them out to much [emoji2369]. Ether way I feel new test kits are my first step. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah I like this hobby way to much to give it up. I have no problem taking a few steps back and reassessing rather then kicking it all to the curb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. my eyes might not be that great for matching the color. I never tested regularly until this past year or dosed. Did my water changes and everything looked great. What are the alk test kits you guy recommend? I’m definitely going back to the drawing board. All my softies and LPS are ok, the monti I have is still doing fine but really would like a few more SPS. I feel I need a better ways to maintain water quality other then just water changes. Maybe a hang on back refugium or something. My tank is in the living room so space and keeping it quiet is key. Been researching Mangroves (my friend said planting 2 in his tank did wonders for phosphate/nitrates). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Iv been using an API test kit. I don’t have a sump/refugium so I think I need some better way to keep cal, alk, and ammonia under control other then just water changes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Maybe these were the readings I got the morning of before I did a water change. All my other corals look ok. The Rainbow acro browned a little bit but is fine now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. dKH was 9 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. PH 8 Nitrite 0.25 Ammonia 0.25 Cal 380 Alk 140ppm Today is my water change day. Witch I do a 5 gal change every week to two weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I’m so frustrated. My tank is a 29 gal biocube running for about 5+ years. I decided about a year ago I wanted to start getting into SPS. I got a monti and a rainbow acro from WWC. They had been doing very well, good color slow growth but happening. About 2 weeks ago I added a few more pieces. Birds nest, red planet, seriatopora, and another I can’t remember the name. Placed them in the tank with temporary putty, to make sure they liked the spots. they were all looking happy, good color, polyps extending. 3 days ago I glued them in place with Gorilla glue gel. Woke up this morning and they are all bleached! My water permitters are fine, nitrates a little high because I feed my other LPS and fish kind of heavy. nothing changed with lighting. Everything els is still doing fine. Just a bummer to see such nice things die so fast like that and have no idea why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I did see one of my hermit crabs in it shortly before I notice the hole. Maybe he was the culprit! I’ll still keep and eye on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
