  2. I would like to thank everyone for this weekend's FFE and such a great afternoon. I am new to club and it was a pleasure meeting new people as passionate about the hobby as myself. I have been in the hobby for about 12 years at this point and haven't met such a down to earth group of reef hobbyists. I walked up to random strangers and just began chatting in reef lingo, that was awesome. I go to school/live in Baltimore and there is somewhat of a commute to meetings but it's worth it. As I discussed with a couple of members (some have known for a while), I am working on a project with WAMAS and the Monarch Academy Charter School. Working with children that are my age when I started my first SW aquarium has been nothing but rewarding. Check out the thread in the Education Forum, I am posting progress fairly regularly so keep an eye out! Robert Enjoy...
  3. If the interested parties flake let me know, it'll all be put in a good home at the monarch academy. Thanks

  8. Hey everyone! Any ideas where I can get a 1 3/4 bit locally? Largest diameter has been 1 3/8. I am in Baltimore but will travel. Thanks in advance.

  10. Awesome build, Ive sent IC/AC a couple emails and left a VM to have a tank made like that but no response :/
  11. UPDATE: My first trip down to the school I gave a lecture on the nitrogen cycle, which IMO is one of the first steps to understand our captive reefs. Second trip was to revive the school's 54 gal bowfront. I am currently transforming a 60 gallon tank that once completed is going to be their "full blown reef" Did a 100% WC, 50% new water and 50% existing water from another system. I replaced the sand bed and did a little aquascaping, [=http://s63.photobucket.com/user/BAAD/media/20140605_130644_zpsq4zskycm.jpg.html][/url]

  16. Good afternoon everyone! I wanted to briefly introduce myself since I will be meeting some new faces tomorrow. My name is Robert Burgee, I am a student at Towson University currently and have a strong passion for the hobby. I have been reef keeping since I was 12 and enjoy it more everyday. I am the president of the newly formed Baltimore Saltwater Hobbyists. We are growing at a steady pace and I actually cannot believe the outcome of my minimal marketing for the club. We are not the other club in Baltimore at all, and I would like to build a relationship with WAMAS considering we are neighbours and hopefully maybe partner up in the future and host a MACNA. That is my long term goal and possibly too ambitious but that is what I'm working for. My girlfriend and I will be heading down to Petland for your social tomorrow. I hope to meet some new people tomorrow and have a great day of reef conversations. If anyone has any questions about myself or BSH please PM me or just make a post to this thread. To the admin: I hope this is the correct area to post this. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Robert PS I am not sure who to contact about membership so please if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
