was doing a water change just now and the power head fell out of my hand and first thing it hit was my hammer:( 1 of the heads out of 3 total got ripped off 90% of the tentacles. What do I do from here can I leave it like that? will it continue to grow? do i need to cut it off some how? or something else?

Small updates picked up plywood for top of stand finished 90% of framing last 2 post after tank is in. Then decided to cut the overflow boxes out. You know what that means. Both boxes came out easy took all of 10 min to do both. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Best thing I like about them are the upgradable pucks. With that said the amount of money pucks cost you could get brand new ever grows or similar. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk -
I'll stay away from that kind then. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Sounds like a plan Thanks and thats a good idea usually use my finger lol yea I would not hold anyone responsible lol Well looks like that will be the goal tomorrow find help and get the 180 and 125 in the house and then go about cutting old silicone off the inside and adding new in. Then measure it all for sump baffles! 1 step closer!

What silicone is beat to use something from Lowes or order some of the marineland sealant? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

+1 to that lol There will be a few panes of glass that go across for different sections and the bubble traps as well. Here is a picture of what I am looking at doing. (not to scale)

If that's all I need to do then I will just was not 100% if it would work. As for the tank never having a center brace prior. I will be using 1/4 glass for sump sections so that should help brace it some right?
-
my feeling exactly lol.. I did have this in the garge about 3/4 way full of water for about 2 months no problems or leaks. But what about years as being a sump? As for adding a bead of silicone for extra faith lol. Im not sure if that would be good or not from what I can remember is that silicone wont bond with old silicone. So in my eyes it would bond to the sides but not the old silicone not sure if it would help any other then for looks?

so I have been planning on using a 125 gallon tank for my sump. But have slight second thoughts. Got this tank a while back cleaned it up but the silicone seams worry me some. Tank had a top rim that went around the rim but no center brace. The plastic had been put back in with silicone from previous owner but was sloppy. I took all the plastic trim off the top and it was 4 parts. I left them off bit kept them just in case. Think that sums it up for the most part. So use it? Or not to use it? Rock came from random guy on Craigslist said he took down a tank for his cousin that had not done any maintenance other then top off water in over a year. When I got the rock from him it was just sitting in a bucket of old saltwater outside. So I put all the rock none of that water in a 125 gallon tank in my garage lined the entire sides and bottom with foam boards to keep light out and heat in. Mixed up fresh batch of water rodi and salt. Added a mp40 and wp40 on the tank and 2 heaters. Did water change every 2 weeks and shock rocks in buckets of water to knock anything off of them every week. I just don't want to waste time and more salt on trying to get phosphates lower and have no luck and still have to buy new rock in the long run. Looked a doing the acid soak but from what I've seen you need to let that dry out in the sun after soaking and rinsing the rock off. With the cold weather I doubt it would even dry but freeze lol. Open to all ideas at this point ordering dry rock will cost around 4-500 I figure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So bad news for me.... Another delay in the whole process... I have about say 150lbs of live rock that came with the 180 that has been in a tank cooking for last say 2 months or so. Go out today to do some testing on the levels to see whats what and hope that phosphates are low and I can move rock into the 180 this week once it goes in the house. Well nope nothing ever is that easy right... phosphates were at 1.76 ppm checked with hannah. So I am at the point of what do I do now. option 1 cook rock more keep water changes going and rinse rock in buckets weekly and hope they go down... option 2 bleach then acid bath rock to kill everything and remove layer of rock. Then let it dry out in the sun...(but its winter it would freeze).. option 3 one I may just go ahead and do.. buy 200lbs of dry rock from ReefCleaners 1 and 2 will cost money and time option 3 little more money but rock would be good to go. maybe i can recover some of the cost later in the summer by drying out the live rock I have?? open to comments on that?

Picture to give you refrance to the basement and the space in between the room and fish room.
-
Have not thought about that 100% yet. ill have to get a picture to show how it will look, but our basement we just ripped out the drop ceiling that we did not like. Now it is open rafters that we painted and put in recessed lighting. So the room would only go up to the beam and would have about 10" in between each beam to vent into the room. maybe that's enough?
