  1. Did you get the other branching structure reconfigured yet? The other one is going to be bigger right or is that one at the end the one we talked about needing the reconfigure? Love all the extra space for swimming! =)
  2. Wade, there is no reason it should take that long to buff out scratches unless there are TONS of them and they are fairly deep. As I don't want to detract from the build thread, if you like, you can PM me or email me and let me know the situation and what materials/methods you have been using to work on it and maybe I could throw you some pointers to help expedite some of the process. Billy started off trying to use Novus compound and I showed him a much faster, easier way of doing things when I went over to help fix the few scratches that he had.
  3. You two are devilishly evil! Good thing Billy waited till AFTER I talked him through it on the phone to post this...Otherwise my instructions would have been different...."Get a package of steel wool and scrub real hard till it comes out" ROFLMAO!! Oh and with that sly pic of me in the tank...Where's Tom? Someone may want to warn him not to look at this thread...last time I did a merman shot in our stores frag tank he said he had nightmares LOL. Easier than baking a cake...even for the likes of you . For the "several" scratches you had me come check out it took all of what...20 minutes? =). Gotta love how easy it is to make acrylic look brand new again . BTW...LOVE the restaurant and setup. Everyone...you will love coming to see this place when it opens. I know I will...and already did...hehe...great pho ... The tank's location is PERFECT. Everyone will be able to enjoy it from anywhere in the restaurant...except maybe the kitchen but they will be busy making yum food for everyone there =).
  4. If you already have an applicator bottle and tip I can provide you with a small amount of solvent (I don't have enough extra applicator bottles to spare). Note, I don't use Weld-On, but my own blend of solvent. However, it would work even better for your application than Weld-On would.
  5. Yeah, good point, if I had a Redskins themed basement and pool table I wouldn't want to spend any time down there either ROFL!!
  6. Yep, I say close back in the minibar area allowing you to do a longer in-wall leading all the way up to the bathroom wall. AND wouldn't it be cool if you had a cut out through the bathroom wall as well allowing the tank side to be visible in there as well?? LOL....baths would never get taken in the master bathroom again! ROFL! Obviously that last part is a little overkill, but there are those adventurous enough to do it . That storage area seems to have a lot of potential and does seem a great option to give yourself a great tank that doesn't eat into the space of the main room. A floor drain....big bonus =). And +1 to smallreef about adding some variant of humidity evac.
  7. Add me to the list that have seen it in person and say WOW. The colors are incredible. Excellent husbandry skills in this household I must say!
  8. A heater in direct contact with acrylic underwater will produce ZERO issues or worries. Further testament....customer of mine with a fire in direct proximity to his tank (much much hotter than in tank heater)...the tank never ruptured from the heat (or repeated blows by the fire department sledge)...it began to bubble due to the extreme heat in this case, but still held solid.
  9. I bet some around WAMAS...COUGH...no names ...would beg to differ about Paly's producing a "cool" effect LOL.
  10. Where does the little mini bar "nook" fit into the above floor plan? Having trouble figuring that part out. Is that door not on the "narrow" portion of blue storage room area? As for the Duct work Omair, good point...LOL...I didn't even look towards the upper portion of that pic to see that. Shouldn't be much issue...just have to set tank height and depth properly to allow enough clearance under duct work for lighting. And yeah Christie, if you don't mind giving up the storage area it would certainly make for an "optimal" setup that many people wish for and don't have the luxury of having. Being able to have more space for your sump, RODI, ATO, Skimmer, etc... is a godsend when you aren't forced to necessarily fit it all under a stand .
  11. So what you are saying is all we need to do is smoke this sponge on a regular basis and we can have a tank full of bread-and-butter coral and it will look like the best vibrant reef around.
  12. Lol I know right? Unfortunately though the rainbow colored one is just an illustration playing off the title tongue in cheek . The second picture is an example of the actual sponge...not nearly as nice :p but would be awesome if it was naturally so colorful
  13. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/first-psychedelic-drug-isolated-from-a-marine-organism
  14. Well, I must say I certainly like the color of that room better than the pool room HA!! What about doing an in-wall corner tank where you described? Are you opposed to the tank being placed mostly inside that storage room? Obviously would require determining if that corner rounds towards the mini bar is load bearing or not, but I think that would be an awesome setup idea where the tank is visible from the pictured facing side as well as from the side where the minibar currently sits. If the storage room can be sacrificed further it would be an easy plumb to move your RO/DI setup out of the bathroom and back there as well.
  15. Nice little rhyme . OMG, this got me rolling, but was SSSOOOOOO bad....ROFL!!
  16. Wowser, close call...Hope everything continues to pull through! Needless to say, make sure you slowly bring that temp back up so as not to stress the livestock/coral.
  17. Yep, we sure do...actually have it on a 150gal stock tank and it works great. The magnet even works through the thick wall of the rubbermaid too! The surface of the stock tank is not overly angled. You just have to get the position right by monitoring the green light on the pump plug module. The pressure sensor still works absolutely perfectly...we haven't had a single problem with it in this orientation whatsoever!
  18. They can't use the back-up float valve on their system....not enough room in the back of the RSM. I would certainly recommend this method over a check valve....the less mechanical elements involved the lower the chance of failure. Just make sure you properly secure it to the tank so it doesn't fall off the tank as others said or fall further down into the tank allowing a siphon. The pressure sensor not working right for you though is puzzling. Hopefully Justin or Dan (Avast) will chime back in to let us know if there is some little thing you may be doing that is preventing it from working. I know one thing though....once you got the pressure sensor setup right they work FANTASTIC and reliable. We have never had a problem with either of ours...way better and more reliable than just a standard float.
  19. They most certainly do. And some of them take a little longer than others to come around. We had two of them lately in the main frag tank that began this process at the same time. One shedded after 2-3 days and then opened back up better than ever. The other took a week longer than the first to go through the same process. Just like all of us...some are faster/more efficient than others .
  20. You tease! I was hoping to see it finally unwrapped lol. God, I'm sure that must be driving you crazy with anticipation. I saw it of course one last time before wrapping it up...but you never gave in to temptation to take off the wrapping and take a peak all these weeks LOL!!
  21. LOL I know right... At my gov job it was once reported to me that one of the department managers referred to my team as "window lickers". Instead of taking serious insult to it and taking it up the ladder with a formal complaint I went and got small panes of glass at the store (HD) and filed my team down to the **cough** nice witches office and we all filed through her office licking the window panes and right back out the door without saying anything aside from the periodic giggle/chuckle from us all that we couldn't hold back from the display. Even to this day, anytime she wants to get smarmy with me and storms into my office I just pick up my pane of glass and say "Did you expect any different from a team of window lickers?". It's great cause she will never take it further up the chain either as it would come down pretty bad on her anyway for the negative connotations in general. ROFL!
  22. LOL...and we can concentrate some strawberry syrup and other fruits as well, dilute with water, and spray on the windows so they actually have a nice flavor to them and then we will have all the bases covered ROFL.
  23. LOL....definitely a short bus. Oh and maybe if we go early enough you and Pez could bring your stuff and throw a tailgate party outside before they open...that would be hilarious!
