  1. If you're using aluminum channel on your LED set up and not a heatsink, what size channel are you using? Any reason you chose that size over another? Are you using a fan on your channel? If you had to do it over again would you use the channel or would you go with a heatsink?
  2. Momentive RTV 108 is what it is. I'm reading this is used by some builder to build tanks. Can anyone confirm this here, I know we have some tank builders here? Would love to confirm before I put it in the tank. Thanks in advance
  3. Want to make sure this silicone is safe to use in the sump
  4. Do you have too much carbon in the reactor?
  5. I made the mistake of grabbing a piece of rock out of a FOWLR tank years ago and there was a huge one beneath the rock. They stick you like a porcupine does. Tons of little things sticking in my finger as my finger started to swell. They do eat a ton of crap on the bottom of the tank. Great to keep in a FO tank!
  6. I do have extensions that will go into both drains, forgot to throw them on in the picture...did not have a check valve though. May have to grab one of those today
  7. Purchased this set up from someone that needed to unload it fast. Was not happy at all with the way it was set up when I purchased it. Since it was up and running, I just moved it fast and tossed it back up. Currently running now with a HOB filter :( . This will be the plumbing set up for a 65 FOWLR tank for a few months until I can change things around the way I really want them (and finish Mom's tank and my 40b set up). I want to paint or stain the stand and canopy and espresso color, add a real sump, and put my GHoles overflow on (will be looking for someone to drill it for me) Aside from opinions on the skimmer (Urchin) selection (fits the space for now and was great on a 45 cube) do you see anything that should be changed before I cement it all together tomorrow night? Using a CPR overflow (CS 50 I think)- down to the skimmer sock, water flows through sock where the MJ1200 skimmer pump is beneath it, water drops out of skimmer to the the Mag 7 return, return has a "T" which takes it to the tank and also back to the section between the filter sock and skimmer; which will hold some chaeto or caulerpa, there are holes in the right side of that section for water to flow back into the chamber that holds the return. Not looking for anything fancy at this point, just something that works for a few months (or less) and makes sense. Thoughts? Suggestions on changes before I cement?
  8. This set up looks Awesome in person! Stand turned out amazing. Can't wait to see it with water...fish/corals...and lights
  9. How much play should there be around a bulkhead? Once the bulkhead is put through the hole should there be any room at all to move it side to side or should it be a snug fit? Seems like there is a little too much "play" in the ones I'm working with.
  10. I have read people using epsom salt (Magnesium sulfate) and Prestone driveway melt (calcium chloride). I believe Lowes sells 50lb bags of the Prestone cheap. Epsom salt seems to be everywhere. I HAVE NEVER USED either item, so someone who knows for sure, please chime in.
  11. The middle of the 3 scores is used to qualify. 720 is what is needed to avoid the MI in most cases. If the student loans are deferred in most cases they will be excluded from the DTI. Rates are insanely low now, even using and FHA loan and paying the MIP you can get in cheap. When you talk to the bank, ask them for a Good Faith Estimate that you can take with you. That will allow you to shop around and compare apples to apples. I'd be happy to quote you as well. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions
  12. There are loan programs out there with low rates that go up to 97% with NO monthly MI if your credit score is high enough and your debt to income ratio is low enough. If you need help with other options after talking to your bank, let me know. Side note, there are also refinance programs out now that we can help with for people "under water" on the current home. We have some that will exceed 175% LTV
  13. "Workers lowered a ladder into the tank, then climbed down and carried the fish to safety." Where would safety be? Who was the lucky one to "carry" the lionfish to "safety" - Hope there is video of this part somewhere
