  1. Some type of bottom dweller.. my favorite is the blue spot jawfish
  2. Ooo! let me think about it! I always have suggustions
  3. Are the NIH tanks on your list of tanks to maintain?? I noticed that the fish only saltwater tank in building 10 just got a facelift.
  4. Great! Petland has them. At one time they had a small one for about 30.00. I would have bought it, but it was just after setting up my tank and I wanted a more established tank. If I found it for that price again I would grab it! PM me and let me know how you want to divide the cost before you buy it.
  5. I would be intersted in renting/borrowing one as well, or going in with someone to buy one.
  6. I had a snail without a shell hanging out by my clam, for about 2 days now. Should I do anything for the snail?? is it ok?? Strange.....
  7. What classifies as a 'bird-puke coral'? is that what your picture is of??
  8. Jan, this might not help, but I had a small colony of blue clove polyps and they were the first to go when I had an algae outbreak , and started having problems mantaining my Mag and Alkilinity.
  9. I went a few times when I lived in Alabama... close proximity to Atlanta is probably the best part of living in Alabama!! They hold professional meetings in the ATL area all the time and will usually rent out the the aquarium for a night , with lots of free food and drinks, its pretty awesome
  10. thats amazing!! I would LOVE to see his set up in person. he makes some really good points. I only have two small tanks but if we lost power like they did in parts of MD last year, I would cry... alot. I cannt believe he feeds his fish twice a day! I think my bio load would sky rocket if I did that!
  11. Very nice! what type of camera did you use for that?
  12. Agreed, I've gotten some nice corals from there
  13. Good to hear it did well under the CFLs. ALso, love the brain coral
  14. Hello, My K2 viper 150W has a short; It has since I bought it, but used to work once it 'got going'. Now it wont even turn on. The button lights up when I turn it on, so the power is getting to the box, but its not making that MH start up noise it used to. Does anyone have experience with this? could it be the fuse or is something shorting in the box? Does anyone have an extra 150 box? Any help or ideas would be great!
  15. When you get it out, be sure to take a picture!
  16. So I was going to offer, but I"m afraid it will give me nightmares.... check out this video of one.... how did you end up with that in your tank??? SCARRY!! glad you didnt come across it with your hand in the tank!
  17. I have a few frags from Mr. Coral, my favorite is a nice dendro for 8 dollars I got back when they had everything half price. As much as I like them, I do prefer to go and see the corals rather than picking them off the net. The last few times I've gone, I've made a list from the net, then looked at the corals on my list once I get there to decide which to buy. Most of the time, I don
  18. No skimmer. Actully, all I have in the back is a sponge, thermometer, and a return pump. I did have a phosphate eliminator and another bag of stuff to eliminate nitrates, but I took it out over a month ago. It might not be a bad idea for me to replace it. however, I mostly have softies, and only 2 fish, and two interts. I am very careful when adding animals to the tank, and I do a 2 gallon water change EVERY week. I've only missed twice in the eight months I've had the tank, so thats probably why I get away without haveing a skimmer. Hope this helps
  19. I've just started up a new 34 gallon, that i hope to have SPS in I'm waiting on my protien skimmer to really get started, but here it is for now.
  20. Here is a full tank picture of my 12 gallon nano, my first reef tank :D its been up 8 months and has been pretty successful so far. Fish: 1 true percula 1 lawn mower benny Inverts: Halloween crab (first inhabitant in the tank!! still alive!) Fire Shrimp Clean up crew Corals red and blue Mushrooms 1 mulit color Mushroom from Mr. Coral. blue/green Ricordea green, blue, and orange Zoas 2 chalice corals in the right corner. trumpet coral Kenya tree
  21. So I bought someone's 34 gal red sea max, and its been alittle more difficult to put together than the 12 gal thats been up for about 8 months now. It did not come with pumps. I was able to retro fit a regular submersable pump for the return pump, but I"m not having the same luck with the venture pump on the protien skimmer. I've thought about making a sump back their instead of a protien skimmer. I just dont want to pay $60 for a new pump :( I've also thought about attaching my viper metal Halide to the 12 gallon, selling the 34 gal, and up grading in a year when I move. So, is the pump really worth $60 on a 34 gallon tank? Any suggustions?
