  1. Hehe...Do stomatellas lay eggs? Because there are these white egg/spore looking things around the area where I first saw the stomatellas.
  2. Kind of late coming into this but...wow...that's all I have to say. That's some quality fish-tanking there.
  3. We get a whole lot of stink bugs around here when the seasons change. There seem to be 2-3 every day in the tank, they don't seem to make any difference in the water though. However if they release their chemicals, I would guess that's another story...
  4. +1 Lol
  5. Just guessing here but...you have two little stomatellas?
  6. I've never actually seen one, but I have read about them, which said that the white tangs actually have something wrong with them. Not really sure on this, but I'd err on the side of caution...
  7. Oh well so much for that. At least my peppermints will be happy.
  8. Ok thanks...nice to know there isn't a killer in my tank.
  9. So I was looking at the aquarium this morning, when I see this sluggish thing that basically looks like a cerith snail without a shell crawling around. I thought 'Eh, can't be that bad.' It then proceeded to eat two feather dusters. So my question is, what is this thing? And is it actually eating the feather dusters? The slug/snail things are the brownish looking creatures with antennae in the pictures, sorry about the bad quality.
  10. Yes. It's time like this I wish I had more than a 46 gallon. Great work!
  11. So all one would have to do is drill a hole in the tank and put the intake pipe in there as opposed to in the overflow box?
  12. I'm still kind of confused what the purpose of drilling a tank and how you would go about doing that? I'm nervous to bring power tools anywhere near animals.
  13. Never been quite sure how to do this or if you could do this after the tank was up and running. Hmmm...probably going to try that. The overflow is a square about 1 gallon box. I think the light might be coming in through the side, since the overflow is not directly below the lights.
  14. I just noticed that today. I have aiptasia-x, now it's just a matter of reaching my hand back there...
  15. So I was basting off the rock in the aquarium today when I decided to clean the overflow box. Simple enough right? Well A. It was FILLED with algae and B. The whole tank almost overflowed after I knocked into the intake tube There is already a little piece of aluminum foil covering the box, but that doesn't seem to be helping much. Does anyone know of any ways to get rid of algae in an overflow box? Also, is there a way to clean things like the overflow box, intake tube, and outake tube without crashing the system?
  16. Thanks for the input guys. Now I'm going to go comfort my Packer friends...
  17. I have a 46 gallon bowfront, and there aren't any fish in yet and while the quarantine tank is still cycling I was wondering if more live rock would be a good idea. There is currently about 40 lbs in all, maybe 10 lbs of Florida aquacultured, 20 lbs pompeii, and 10 lbs fiji (these are all just estimates, I don't know exactly how much of each type of rock there is). My main questions are if I need more rock, if so where would be a good place to put it? Also, any opinions on how it looks currently?
  18. Sounds great...Also confusing but I think I should be able to get used to it. I noticed in the explanation thread it was only corals though...
  19. I'm still kind of a newbie at this so forgive me when I ask what's SWAP?
  20. Thanks everyone for the help in identifying these...Hopefully if it growns larger and does well I can frag it.
  21. I'm not a big refugium expert, but I always thought that was what copepods were for...
  22. Thanks for the idea of Wetwebmedia, it helped clear up a few things about how to care for it. It also said that red alga in general seem to overrun tanks, but all the pictures of nemastoma I've seen show it growing just up like branches, not so much out like a field like wetweb says it does...
  23. Lol thanks but some aptasia already popped up on the opposite side...so now there's a good side, and a bad side.
  24. I think it might be both, because all of it in my tank is relatively high up and the bigger patches are close to the stronger powerhead. Granted, that might just be because that's where the rock ended up.
  25. The idea sounds good, but I wouldn't have any bulbs to donate at the moment as I just started the hobby a few months ago. Also, would the deposit (if not reimbursed) go to the donater or the store?
