  1. We haven't lost power yet in fairfax *knocks on wood*, but we're bound to at some point. All we have are two airstones and no generator I know about the blankets and the bags of warm water, but any other ideas on how to keep the tank warm and relatively safe?
  2. I have flake food and they eat that up quickly. And they seem to like the pellets I feed the shrimp so that should be interesting to see what happens.
  3. I don't think lionfish eat coral at all to the best of my knowledge.
  4. Definitely an amazing group of exhibits. A social there would be very cool.
  5. Sounds like an awesome idea. I'd be willing to help make it, but I'm still in school so I'm not sure how long I'd be able to work on it. But I don't see any assignments looming in the near future as we just got finished with a big project.
  6. Sounds good to me. We added the sand from CaribSea without incident, I might wait a little longer before turning on the lights though. We got a lot of algae from turning the lights on too early.
  7. I think they're erm...unique. I don't find them pretty...just interesting. If that makes sense
  8. So the pajamas are definitely hardier, that's something to think about, thanks. What about a chalk bass or royal gramma?
  9. I would also be interested in helping and/or attending.
  10. Ok they're eating now, I'm not worried anymore.
  11. How long should it take a new fish to start eating? I have some neon gobies in the quarantine tank and i tossed pieces of one piece of flake food in there. They looked at it and my have nibbled at it but not very much. They've been in quarantine for two days.
  12. Darn. Well I'm thinking about maybe a wrasse of some kind, but as of now the neon gobies are now in the quarantine tank.
  13. That's still a little down the road as we're getting our first fish tonight but I'll keep that in mind. Are flame angels any better?
  14. True, but once again being the new kid in town I'm a little paranoid about these things, so I'm just kind of thinking play it safe and get the gobies that won't attack anyone that comes near their patch of sand. Granted I'm probably overreacting but better safe then sorry...right?
  15. Yeah we're definitely getting a pair of those, I was just thinking that since they might get a little territorial (them being a subset of damselfishes and all) they would come in maybe 2nd or 3rd.
  16. Not quite yet. Our quarantine tank just finished cycling, so we're going to get fish soon, probably the gobies or cardinals first.
  17. Here's an idea that just ocurred to me. They might be looking for water right? So obviously they'd die if they all made a nest in the tank, but what about our RO/DI units, sitting there, making water, retaining moisture... *Lets the anxiety and fear surmount* Just a thought.
  18. LOL I think I'll leave the hunting to a fish that eats them...if there are any that is
  19. Oh great. Hundreds of creep crawling worms in the tank already...
  20. Oh yay, so we don't need to buy a trap. Well thanks for telling me they weren't any harm before I killed them.
  21. Wait seriously? Whatever happened to the stories of the bristleworms eating through the walk and eating the corals and smaller fish?
  22. Apparently the nemastoma wasn't the only hitchhiker... These are bristleworms...right? Please tell me if they are because I don't want to kill off anything unecessarily. But if they are, anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of them? I thought of the tube idea, but I'm afraid that'll catch the hermits or shrimp. And I know, I accidentally posted this twice, just ignore the other post
