  1. Careful, that's deathclaw country.
  2. Sorry to hear about your fish not making it, I know how bad that feels. The one fish I've bought from BRK was a pygmy angel, and it is really thriving in my tank- and it was active and eating almost immediately after acclimation.
  3. Question- assuming that the collection container is clean, could you take the water out of the dehumidifier and add it back to the tank? Does the metal condenser plate add unsafe trace elements?
  4. Very nice. The one I have has that shade under just the actinics and when the polyps are halfway extended or less, but fully extended and under normal lights it looks a tad brownish.
  5. I guess there must be a market for fish that expensive, but... Although, it IS a darned pretty fish. Not nine hundred dollar pretty, not to me at least, but nonetheless an attractive critter.
  6. Yikes, wonder what their prices are like.
  7. Do you mean the biocube 29, or another tank? If it is the 29, do you mean the rear compartments or did you add an external sump? If you did add an external sump, is there somewhere that has directions and photos?
  8. Is the emperor a juvenile? Not that I can have one in my tank One of these days though...
  9. Indeed. Was in the other day and Ozzy (is that his name? big hair guy) actually talked me out of buying a coral that my tank really isn't ready for. Did walk out with a couple of really nice softies though, and they look great in my tank. I'm really glad I found the place, its a bit out of the way for me but worth the trip.
  10. Skunk cleaner shrimp are neat. I've had one for a week and its molted already. Question- I also really like coral banded shrimp, could I add one? My tank is fairly small (30gal), would they get along? Would it make a difference if I got a smaller one?
  11. I do rinse it out every time, and I always get a reading when its full of freshwater. So far its always on zero, but I'm not sure if that means much, especially if the results skew lower than they should.
  12. I'm pretty new (two month old tank, everything doing well so far) and all I have is the standard swing arm hydrometer. I know eventually I'll buy one, but for now I'm set with what I've got. It probably helps that I'm sticking to easier fish and softies. I assume most people here are pretty hardcore and use them, but my question is, how far along were you when you bought it?
  13. Another vote for Blue Ribbon Koi. Made my first trip out there the other day, just to look around, not intending to buy anything and was so impressed that I walked out with a new fish and a bucket of salt.
  14. Do they need a large tank to get along?
  15. Thanks for all the replies. Interesting to see the same kind of polar opposite opinions here that I've seen elsewhere. I know there are a few (three?) separate species of cleaner wrasse, and also some very similar looking goby species, I wonder if this has anything to do with reports of success? Perhaps not, though, as I have read accounts of moorish idols who will eat anything and have lived for years. Could be normal variation. I've seen those cleaner shrimp in stores before, but didn't know they could clean off ich parasites, very interesting.
  16. Been wondering about this, and thought I'd ask you more experienced and wiser than I people this. In Fenner's "Conscientious Marine Aquarist" he vehemently opposes keeping cleaner wrasses in aquariums. I've read numerous other books that say, at the most, that they can be difficult feeders sometimes. There's even a photo in Micheal Paletta's excellent (and very helpful to me personally setting up my tank) "The New Marine Aquarium" which shows a cleaner wrasse in one of his personal tanks. And I've read on online forums that people get them to accept prepared foods. Whats the general consensus? Are they difficult but doable fish, or are they a tiny blue striped moorish idol as Fenner seems to say? /Whew, first post. Love to death my yellow watchman goby and two clowns! //Saltwater newbie
