don't know about starlight, but it doesn't really light up the whole tank, it adds a nice bluish effect, still dark, but coral colors are flourecent glow.

Just got these in the mail. I ordered 2 of them. http://cgi.ebay.com/42-24-LED-Waterproof-Coral-Aquarium-moonlight-lighting_W0QQitemZ310212522087QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item483a1b7067 A bit hesitant since it's from an unknown vendor on ebay but they actually look very nice. I only connected one of them over my tank and was shocked at how good they look. Each LED is nice and bright and provides a bit of a spotlight effect. With all my lights off and just the moonlights on, I get nice shimmering effect and the fantastic color pop from my corals. Each LED set (3 LEDs) have quick disconnects and all connect to a normal AC adapter. Will try to take a picture of it on tonight. I'm eventually gonna try to swith over to LEDs, but at least this is a small step in the right direction

So I guess the general consensus is that it is possible and we have several members here that are currently cultivating them. Perhaps we can try to organize some sort of mysis swap or such.
-
I've got ro water in a spray bottle, spray the glass and use a microfiber towel to clean. Does a pretty good job at getting rid of the streaks.
-
i've got a 50 gallon stock tank that you can use as well
-
interesting. it seems that most folks who try to breed them are unsuccessful, whereas the ones that don't intend to have them all over the place and no idea how they got them. if you don't mind, perhaps i can swing by one day and take a look at your setup to see since you're not too far away from me
-
I've read various articles about this and some say that they won't survive and others say that the mysis shrimp breed like crazy in a refugium. I was thinking about getting some live mysis shrimp and putting it in my fuge to give my fish more variety diets. Has anyone tried this with success or do you have to set up one of those complex breeding systems.

yeah, i can see how the sham wow would be handy. how about for cleaning the glass and removing the streaks... i find paper towels always leave some smudges and smears and wondering if something like this or micro fiber towel would do the trick
-
so i'm really tired of always having a roll of paper towels around the tank and wasting huge amounts to wipe the glass, clean the glass, etc. and came across this product... Ecoxotic EcoCham Cleaning Cloth. Has anyone tried this? MarineDepot has this on sale now for $7.99 so figured it was worth a shot, but seems pretty promising. http://www.marinedepot.com/Ecoxotic_EcoCham_Cleaning_Cloth_Equipment_Cleaners_for_Saltwater_Pumps_Filters-Ecoxotic-XX01010-FIMTES-XX01010-vi.html http://www.youtube.com/user/ecoxotic1

glass\acrylic cut measurements for a 55 gallon sump
Quantum Aquaria posted a topic in Do It Yourself
anyone already have or remember the dimensions for the glass cuts for a 55 gallon sump? I'm picking up a 55 gallon this weekend and wanted to plan for the sump build ahead of time. -
strange. I've used a mag 9.5 before in my sump and it is not as loud as you are indicating. It's not the quietest pump, but it shouldn't be heard through doors and such. Before looking for a new pump, i'd suggest maybe giving it a good clean in a bucket of distilled vinegar... let it run for about 30 minutes to an hour or if you're up to the task, unscrew the front plate and see if there's is anything lodged or stuck inside that's causing the noise...

so thinking about getting a few of these guys below. Anyone use them? http://www.marinedepot.com/Tower_Shock_Bus...-FIMIGF-vi.html

Thanks David. Might have to take you up on that offer... unless of course, you think based on what you indicated earlier that the portable gfi plugs are just as good. So, the next question i have is should each device have it's own GFI outlet, or can you plug a few into a multi-adapter to one outlet? Also, how does the ground probe work? stick the probe in the tank, and plug it into a gfi outlet?
-
a bunch of times.. i'm hard headed like that... i don't have a gfi outlet... but saw that they sell the gfi plugs and suge protectors... are those just as good?
-
what do you guys do about this? I've heard mixed opinions... Early, I got a little shock when I stuck my hand in the tank... after unplugging things one by one.. turned out to be one of the heaters Would a ground probe help alleviate these types of stray current?

only thing i can think of is that my powerheads were more towards the bottom... so perhaps it didn't aerate the top of the water so less oxygen exchange... oh well... lesson learned -

Refugium LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!! 2 Sunlight 36 inch ready fit T5HO giving me 4 bulbs total and 2x26inch ARO VHO retro kit attached together and just sitting on top of some 2/3s until I can get around to hanging them. Frags in place. Some are slowly recovering from the shocking of swapping out all these tanks... so far, so good Main 120 with Metal Halides on... 2x250 MH bulbs driven with IceCap Ballasts. Will be swapping out the bulbs soon to more blueish 14k bulb Now that everything is pretty much in place, I can go focus on making the setup a bit more cleaner... cable management and relocatings stuff.. but it's coming along... more to come as I have time.. Oh... got a masonry drill bit over the weekend... so gonna test the who column thing... Dan (Zoozilla)... after seeing your tank... gotta at least give this a try -

finally got everything on the stand... 15 gallon high refugium, 50 gallon breeder frag tank, sump. I accidentally broke my 30 gallon sump... so have to use the rubbermaid tub for the time being until I can put maybe a 50 gallon sump together. -

updated pics of the progress thus far Plumbing underneath the 120. Drains are 1 inch and returns are 3/4 inch. I used a ball valve on both returns and drains so that I could be control the flow. Cut a whole through the wall to go to the Utility room behind it. I would have loved to do in in wall setup, but there is not enough room in the utility room becase my water heater is there and taking up lots of room. Plan is once everything is set up the way I want, I'm gonna enclose the stand and block off the side view so that the hole is not as exposed. Other side of the wall... pump is a PCX-40 (Mak4). It's a bit too powerful so I had to turn down the pump using the ball valve for the returns... got this from another Wamas member a couple of months ago but it's starting to show signs of age as it get's louder and louder. Might be getting an new pump soon.
