  2. Welcome aboard, and I have to agree with everyone else. More awesome pics please!!!! Mike
  3. Won't work. Long distance relationship. They never work....lol
  4. Thanks for the input Coral Hind. I'll check somethings out when I get home tonite. ErikS, I know what you mean. I am trying to think of a way to hook up an electric shut off solenoid before the entire unit in conjuction with the booster pump pressure valve. I have a 110v soleniod, I'll need to get a 12v one sence the pump and pressure valve work off 12v dc. Maybe put it inline electricly with the pump so when the pressure valve activates the pump, it also activates the solenoid to allow water to flow to the pump
  5. If it is a seperate item, than no. I am using the ASV that I was instructed to use with float valve. According to instructions, I do have the ASV installed correctly and they do not show a check valve. Is this something I should be using?
  6. Maybe someone has some input for my delima. I have am AquaFX Barracuda with a 55g drum as my holding container. There is a float valve in the container and a hydraulic automatic shut off, as instructed by the directions, to control level and shut off. Everything was working the way it was puposed to with the exception of filtered to waste water ratio due to the fact I am on well water with low pressure. So, I added a booster pump and pressurer switch in line before the rodi unit as instructed. The situation is even with the booster pump not running and the float valve off there is waste water continuously flowing now. Any ideas? Mike
  7. Yo John, Sorry to hear about this situation. You and everyone at BRK has shown to me...and proven to all of us.... time and time again of your support of the marine aquatic hobby and your drive to keep prices more than comparable with online vendors even before I became a member of the WAMAS family. My hats off to you and everyone over there. Mike
  8. Good point, but sence she is the healthy one. She can swim real fast. I did not expect the male to find such a good hiding place. hopfully he is hiding and not already gone. fingers are crossed. By the way, Thanks for everyones input. Times like this it's comforting to know you're not alone. Mike
  9. MIA in the tank know. He's found a real good hiding place. And he's no small fish, about 5 inches. Was going to try a power head to see if that will flush him out. I'll try that in a little while.
  10. I think I'm going to take everyting out of the 10 gal. ref. and put him in there. low curent and same water. He should be fine there. Know I just have to find him.
  11. No breeder basket, He's gone back behind the rocks to try and hide. I've got a 55, 40 breeder and a couple 10 gal. tanks. only problem is can't make water fast enough to fill the 40 or 55. trying to get in touch with a couple BRK boys know.
  12. Can anyone help with advise? My male clown looks to be in realy bad shape. I have a large pair of coco island clarkii clowns. She has beeten up on him before but not like this. He's at the top of the tank jasping for air and she's not letting up. He's tore up real bad. I was going to try and get him out of the display and put him in a small 10 gal. Did a water change yesterday so thats all the water I can make in a short time. Any advise.
  13. I have all pumps turn off when I feed; main, skimmer, power heads. 5 min. for the power heads, 10 min. for main pump, 15 min. for skimmer. If there is any food left after 5 min. the power heads will get it moving before the sump or skimmer get it.
  14. How simple do you want to make it? If you have a power head and a float valve. Float valve goes in sump, power head goes in resevoir. I put a t in line just off the pump, straight thru goes to sump valve, 90 is open to relieve excess preasure so the pump does not overheat or wear out due to no flow if the sump valve is in closed position, and provide circulation in the resevoir.
  15. Everyone has given some realy good advise. One of the main tips is; be patient, good things happen slow. Sounds like you have given your tank all it needs to cycle and become healthy. Now, allow it to. The more time you allow the tank to establish itself, the healther it will become on it's own, allowing it to handle the bumps in the road. For now, test and wait for the readings to zero, then add your clean up crew. IMO
  16. Yeh right, why does'nt it work that way when the lights get turned back on at my local watering hole? They or I must not be dosing with the proper chemicals or something. No wait, old light bulbs. Lol!!! Seriously, neat little experiment I'll have to try.
  17. I also have been putting my bare hands and arms in the tanks for 2 years now with no ill effect. It might take one of those situations for me to change. And this coming from someone who use gloves in both my jobs, working on vehicles and treating patients. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you.
  18. Thanks for the input Jon. My idea is similar, I need to check my controller to see if I can trigger a dc8 output for only 5 sec. at a time. Or I can power the feeder for say 5 min. and set it to feed for 5 sec. a min. while the AC shuts the pumps down for 10 min. I don't want to dump to much food in at once.
  19. I have been wanting to add a auto feeder to my tank to take care of the mid-morning feedings. Does anyone know of a feeder that will hook up to my controller. The ones I have found on line do not. They do have interval feedings. Is the idea to try and synchronize the interval with your controller shutting down the pumps on your tank so the food does'nt get blown away before the fish have a time to eat. Something tells me I just added a new gadget to design for my tank.
  20. Same thing happened to mine. On well water with not the greatest water presure. No mater if it had new filters or old. Ended up not using the float valve and putting on a electric level sensor switch and an electric shut off valve. Got them from BRK. Now works great. Only problem is it is not very efficent on the good water to waste water ratio. I will solve that problem with a booster pump when I get the funds.
  21. I've got 30 gals.. I'm about 2 miles from BRK. LMK Mike
  22. Looks like a nice set-up. Healthy. Definitely keep us up on the progress.
  23. It's always nice to hear from new members. Can you give me some more info on that cooling tower and maybe some pics. Sounds interesting. Welcome
  24. Looking good, nice and clean. I just wanted to ask you, How's that wet/dry filter working for you?
  25. Brian gave you a link to a very good article. Allow the tank to cycle on it's own. Just monitor the different levels, it will give you something to do while the tank is doing it's thing. I would not do a water change untill the tank has completed it's cycle. In the mean time, research and read. The more info you soak up the easier it will be to give the tank what it does need and will keep you from giving it what it doesn't. Everyone here will tell you that good things happen very slow, but bad things happed very fast. Allow them to happen slow, but keep an eye out for the bad. You might not know what they are, but someone here can always help with that. Mike
