  1. IMHO nothing beats the Cone Octopus with the Blaster pumps
  2. I run both of my MP40w's on Short Pulse (BLUE) to get that perfect sway. I switch it to Night mode around 9 or 10pm for a more calming atmosphere
  3. Where can you get those big clams....uhhh called like T. Gigas I think?
  4. I'll take the ATO set up. I can meet you at the Sheets right there next to Country Chevrolet and give you the cash. Let me know -Chris
  5. Its just like what everyone has already said Ryan. You got excited (who doesn't) and just added too much too soon. I am almost 4 weeks in and I have zilch in my tank. Ammonia is just about nil. Just a very small trace of Nitrites left. And the Nitrates are steady dropping. I have had the tank covered with towels and the lights off for 3 days now. Also skimming wet and I can see its doing a good job of getting rid of all the hair algae I had. DUDE!!! It was like 10 inches long just flowing in the water!! Looked pretty but no thank you!!! Dont give up. Stick with it. Everything will turn out fine. EVERYONE goes thru rough patches like this. EVERYONE!
  6. I'm almost there Ammonia: 0.25 ppm Nitrite: 0.1 ppm Nitrate: 0.5 ppm Phosphates: 0.06 ppm I am now exactly at 3 weeks since the cycle began. Everything seems to be falling daily now so I am thinking by the end of the week I will do my first water change and might be ready for CUC on the weekend. I have quite a bit of GHA I'd like to start getting mowed down! Thinking I am also going to setup a Phos Reactor with some Rowaphos end of the week as well as adding a good portion of Chaeto in my sump to help bring down the Nitrates. I am so friggin ready to look at something other than 200 Gallons of zilch
  7. Didn't you just buy a Juicer? lol... Get some Fresh Garlic and juice them bad boys and start soaking your fish food in fresh garlic juice. That will help fight the ich as well. I think paitence is def. the key here if you want a dominat SPS tank. And if I were you I would just start buying small colonys as opposed to the little 2" frags.
  8. 19 Fish in 5 weeks??? Ryan are you crazy!! I dont think I am going to have 19 fish in my 200 in its life time let alone in 5 weeks of starting... Oh man
  9. It's called Polyp Bailout and its because something is causing them alot of stress. Either your tank parameters are out of wack or something is picking at them and they want to get away. As far as you saving them.... eh it doesn;t look good but if you can keep them isolated some how that would be a good start.
  10. The coolness factor is unreal. Better than any 100 to 100,000 Gallon tank I have ever seen. Lucky guy being able to live that life.
  11. Bill I was planning on doing my 50% water change this upcoming weekend as I will be finishing my 3rd week. Checked this morning and it looks like most of the diatoms on the sand are almost gone now. So weird how that happens! Anyways I am going to test my levels again tonight and see what if any is starting to drop.
  12. Tom, Ammonia is reading 0.25 ppm. Nitrites are around .50ppm and Nitrates are 100ppm. I got all the live rock for the sump from Marine Scene (about 25 lbs) and it was loaded so I had some major die off I am sure.
  13. Well my Nitrates are thru the roof right now topping out at 100ppm. I am hoping going into this 3rd week, stuff starts to come down and stabilize. Ryan I hear ya about the tangs munchin on algae! Looking forward to the day!
  14. Tank temp is a consistent 78.2. Room temp is around 72/74. I am running my lights just because I have them. No particular reason other than that.
  15. I have my lights on regular cycle. 11am till 6pm. (2) 12K Photon Cannons and (2) 453nm Blue Photon Cannons. Protein Skimmer on only during the night right now till I am done dosing the Microbacter which happens to be tomorrow. Tehn I will let it run 24/7
  16. I am exactly 2 weeks into my cycle and when I woke up this morning I seen an explosion of life in my tank! I have diatoms all over the sand and rocks along with very small fine green algae hairs. I know its to be expected but it is every where and it has me alittle worried.... Test Parameters: Ammonia: 0.50ppm Nitrates: 100ppm Nitrites: 0.50ppm Phosphates: 0.42ppm Alkalinity: 8.3 dKH Calcium: 440ppm Magnesium: 1200ppm Should I continue to just let it ride its cycling course or do you think its time I started to add some kind of GFO? I am cycling with Microbacter 7 and I have some live rock in my sump (20lbs) so I know I am getting die off from that. My rock in my tank was all Pukani Base rock (100lbs) from BRS that I cycled for 2 weeks with Phosguard.
  17. I have the Super Reef Octopus 3000 Cone External and this is one weeks worth of skim running only for 15 hours a day while my cycle is going. I love this thing!!!!
  18. Lookin real good DD Brotha! Loving the Powder Blue!
  19. Thanks fellas. Yeah I didnt want a huge rock pile this time around. I am looking to fill everything in over that "Canyon" with lots of nice Acro's! Will look good I think in time.
  20. Thanks Ryan. I am cycling with Live rock in my sump and using Micobacter7 & Bio Fuel to help speed up the cycle. What did you cycle with besides Shrimp and how long did it take?
  21. I am one week into my cycle. Here are my test results so far... Salinity: 1.024 Ammonia: .25 Nitrites: .50 Nitrates 100 dKh: 9.3 PH: 8.0 Phosphates: .02 Calcium: 430 Magnesium 1200
  22. The size pump you will use depnds on how far you are pumping the top off water from the storage to the sump. If its releatively close all you need is a small pump. You can pick those up at any Petco or Petsmart. I cannot answer the second part
  23. Everything works!! Finally Was up very late last night tweaking and such while the pump was breaking in. Eric I took your advise and redid my plumbing to only have one ball valve coming right off the pump. The control of flow is much better. Thanks man. What do you guys recommend to use for sound deadening because this external pump is on the not so quite side. Its not real loud but I would just like to quiet it down some when the doors are shut even more than it already is.
