  1. Harlequin shrimp, makes an appearance every once in a while.
  2. The only issue you will have is trying to fit the skimmer into the sump.
  3. I think that Ebos are not fully submersible. A lot of people submerge them, but they aren't built for it.
  4. A lot of home routers block outbound also. Verizon's FIOS blocks outbound stuff, even harmless ports like NTP.
  5. Check with the airlines, they ship also.
  6. It literally did stink, like rotten eggs!!!!!
  7. Both tips and colonies died. I had to refresh all the media in the Ca reactor. Got a hydrogen sulfide smell coming from it. This time I am going to run the effluent valve wide open, 40 drops a minute probably contributed to the ca reactor going anaerobic.
  8. The problem was my calcium reactor was dripping too fast and raised the alk. Everything is recovering now.
  9. It is definitely recession, I looked at it with a magnifying glass and could clearly see bare skeleton.
  10. The calc and alk have been the same for awhile, I would be worried if I was at 16dkh but my parameters with pH, calc and alk are in the sweet spot. It could be nitrates, I am going to get a test tomorrow and see what it reads, I have added a lot of fish and have been feeding them generously.
  11. I have a perplexing problem. Tips on my sps are losing flesh, it started in my new tank, which I chalked up to new lighting. I installed new LEDs and overlit the new tank, which caused bleaching to occur. Now it has spread to my other tank, which has had no changes for awhile. My calcium and alkalinity are within acceptable parameters (5 meg/l alkalinity and 500ppm calcium). pH is at 8.38 and went to 8.40 for a high today. Only SPS are affected, lps are fine for now. I sometimes see very fine filaments coming out of the polyps that are white and long, after that the coral starts to die at the top of the polyp and then spreads down the branch. It started with one coral and has spread through out the system. Could this be a disease? Thanks for looking.
  12. Anyone have a spare DC8 lying around???? Bueller???? Bueller???
  13. No, it hangs free.
  14. If you mean between the AC3 and DC8, six feet.
  15. I need a little help. My AC3 is acting up, the DC8 will not power any of the plugs intermittently. The AC3 indicates all timer and temp settings are correct and they show as powered up on the AC3 status screen. After I reboot the AC3 everything starts to work. The little green light on the DC8 stays on or blinks as it is supposed to. I have switched out the RJ-11 cable that runs between the DC8 and the AC3 and the problem still occurs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  16. Works great, automatic temperature compensation, easy to zero and to use. No guess work.
  17. Milwaukee Seawater Refractometer!!!!
  18. Dobies work great!! I even take the "skin" off of them and wrap it around a cleaner magnet for my acrylic aquarium.
  19. The rails are quarter round aluminum poles, looks very difficult to bend. I have mounted the modules in the hanging kit and will post a pic later.
  20. Snorkel Bob is a jerk, his shops are all over Kauai and his clientele are out there standing on the reefs, acting like morons. He makes his money from the reef too.
  21. The spotlighting is not as pronounced as shown in the picture. Once I get the hanging fixture installed today, I will raised the light and it will help blend the zones. About 5 inch space between modules.
  22. They are designed to run perpendicular to the long axis of the aquarium, the power and data cords would be an issue otherwise. The hanging kit mounts them perpendicular to the long axis also, they really aim the light on the corals and not on the glass. I have them set to low power right now, so I don't burn anything.
  23. I just installed them last night, so if there is new growth, they must really be amazing!! Retail they go for 600.00 for each module. I got them off ReefCentral for 1400.00 for all.
  24. I have made the switch completely to LED!!!! My 220 now has 5 Aqua Illumination Gen2 module lighting.
