  1. I recommend the special grade: http://www.amazon.com/CaribSea-Arag-Alive-Special-Grade-20-Pound/dp/B0002DH0YO It's the largest grain of the arag alive, beneath the crushed coral. Mine still blows around some in spots, but much less than the fiji pink that I got last time.
  2. White Banded Possum Wrasse Fully QT'd 2" Regular $64 Sale $52 I wish I hadn't missed this guy! Great deal!
  3. Do you have any more photos of the tank? When I click on the 3 that Rob posted originally, it says I don't have permission to view them. I'd like to see a FTS if possible. Can you explain how the water change system works that's so easy? That alone is very tempting.
  4. Awesome. I can't wait to see it up and running. Trade you beer for a tour?
  5. I'm interested in the reef genesis system. But is it worth $650? When the day comes that I get my 300g DD up and running, I want an automatic water change system in place. I am thinking something like 4g per day. I'll have to see yours when it's up and running and see how it works and how happy you are with it. I can't help but wonder if a cheaper alternative could be created with some dosing pumps (run 5 hours/day), and a 55g barrel with fresh saltwater. One pump would pump the fresh in, the other would pump tank water down a drain. Wouldn't that work just as well? Perhaps using a new Neptune pump instead of the BRS peralistic pumps?
  6. The rocks alone, are too uniform, but once it's all filled in with large sps colonies, do you still think it's too uniform? Like this below, it's hard to tell what the rockscape is underneath imo?
  7. Yellow Clown Goby, Captive-Bred Ocellaris Clownfish, Firefish, White Banded Possum Wrasse, Spotted Cardinalfish.
  8. You know the SPS packed RC TOTM tanks? What do their rockscapes underneath look like? Is the stair method, like this, generally what those tanks use to get in the most SPS colonies into their tanks? (side shot below)
  9. ya, palys. can be a nuisance because they spread so well. these are also full of the toxin i believe, so be careful when removing them.

  11. Will the QT frag tank run on a separate system from the grow out frag tank? Will the DT tank be on its own system or shared with the grow out frag tank?
  12. Your fish room looks just fantastic. Wish I had skills like you!
  13. Wrasse, that's fun. I can't seem to find a former RC TOTM I believe, that had a tank FULL of different wrasse. It was quite the list. And the tank was just amazing. I'll keep looking.
  14. not among the choices, but I really liked the new Fluval Sea EVO tanks coming out next year. http://blog.aquanerd.com/2014/08/fluval-sea-evo-5.html http://reefbuilders.com/2014/08/30/fluval-sea-evo12-nano-tank/ http://www.google.com/url?url=http://www.mrsaltwatertank.com/mr-saltwater-tank-covers-macna-2014-part-1/&rct=j&frm=1&q=&esrc=s&sa=U&ei=M-M2VPWzF8zygwSj6YKQCg&ved=0CBQQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNFlHZpzcOur5LVmTFP-iCgVqi0-qA
  15. I'm enjoying my 29g biocube. They are cheap and easy to come by. Lots of easy mods you can do to them too. nuvo's are great though. do they have lids? i wouldn't want one w/o a lid b/c fish would jump out, but if they do, and you want that more sharp look, they might be a great choice too!
  16. you should put a link to your website in your signature!
  17. Have you looked at RapidLED retrofit kits? http://www.rapidled.com/biocube-29/ About the same price, maybe cheaper, ready to install?
  18. Thanks all for the follow up info. I had no idea what a gyre was before I heard about these. Sounds very promising. Interested to see how they play out on a 300g sps tank.
  19. I'm not sure I see how it's better than a vortech. The flow is essentially in only 1 direction right? I thought corals and fish preferred different flows, whether slow then fast, or different directions too. Vortechs can achieve that, and I never had dead spots with vortechs (unlike other pumps such as koralias, maxi jets, etc.) 2 vortechs at each end, on a reef crest mode, really create a powerful, diverse water movement in a tank. 2 gyre's create 1 constant circle of water movement in the tank, at the same speed, always in the same direction... Am I missing something?
