  1. Based on page 5 of the pdf, the joists are rated at 152psf I think?
  2. Thanks mad. I have the tji 110s, 11 7/8". Based on the numbers in the pdf you linked, which doesn't mean anything to me, can someone tell how strong they are at 24" apart? A 6' tank would hit 3 of the joists.
  3. Here's info I find on them: http://forums.jlconline.com/forums/showthread.php?6197-silent-floor-system http://www.trademate.co.uk/services/joists/ So could they hold a 300g DD? If not, maybe a 180g? Smaller?
  4. wood floor. the floor joists are 24" apart. They aren't solid 2x8s, or 2x10s. They are wider on the ends and narrow in the middle, like a 2x2 board on top and bottom and a 1" piece of plywood in the center, like a letter I ("eye") shape. Not sure what they are called. I have attached some photos. I am guessing they are not very strong? tank size 150g-300g... thoughts?
  5. Chris, you truly have a gift. Always amazing.
  6. recommended, as exact as I can. I've read a few horror stories from over dosing, so I'm too scared to try more.
  7. red slime remover, then 3 days blackout, then 50% water change. then lights on 4hrs/day. feeding every other day just a little bit. then gradually increase lighting. this has worked for me in the past. as soon as the lights are on too long or the feeding is too much, it will return. personally, i don't think flow has anything to do with cyano (good or bad). i've had it with high flow and low flow systems. i think it's based on "feeding" the bacteria via too much food/light.
  8. On my 29g biocube, I went with their media basket and the tunze 9002 skimmer. If I had the fuge instead of the skimmer, I'd go with their in tank 10w bulb. It's only $19.
  9. If someone wanted to put a big tank on the third floor of their house, do we have any actual engineers or folks with that training/experience that could actually go to a house and confirm whether or not the tank would be structurally sound/safe?
  10. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-coral-propagation-kit-standard-2.html we have vendors who sell BRS stuff. quantum reefs for example.
  11. Ya, I'm thinking of those plastic ones that look like toys.
  12. Here is mine that I mentioned above: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-value-plus-ro-di-system-75gpd-1.html And the filters may be universal, but I disagree that the only difference are the included filters, hoses and random accessories. There are some cheap ass rodi units on ebay out of china that are no where near the quality of the brs or awi units.
  13. I love my bulkreefsupply plus system. Very high quality and cheap replacement components. Also comes with loads of accessories.
  14. How old is the 55? If you reuse the sand, i would put it into 5g buckets and rinse it thoroughly until the water runs clear, either with a hose or in the shower. Then put it into the 75g, effectively like new sand. Otherwise moving old sand without rinsing it can release toxins into the new tank.
  15. I use a tunze nano ato. a 5.5g tank fits in the stand underneath. works great. very reliable and safe.
