  1. All filters except the membrane. Awi sells a replacement pack.
  2. Definitely a great and memorable guy. Always enjoyed going out to his place, he was an excellent contributor to the Wamas community. Very sad news.
  3. How about your corals took a hit bc they probably got burned. Adding GFO and carbon both clean the water, allowing for better light penetration and a shift in water chemistry. IMO I see this as more reason than the PVC solvent.
  4. Definitely try a poly pad and see what color it produces. Anymore information would be helpful. How much new volume of water was added.? What else is in the sump.? Any other changes.?
  5. What kind of PVC glue and Cement did you use.? Ive used the kind in the red/silver can , let it sit for a very short time and used it with no issues.. Seems to me there is something more to the mystery..
  6. The razor has its own built in controller, very simple.. So, yes its dimmable.
  7. Save on bulbs, Yes. Better growth just because of LEDs, No. T5's are great, and are as capable of growing corals as well as any other light. Your tanks chemistry and stablity are far more important than lights alone.
  8. My first advice would be to invest in a set of QUALITY test kits like saliferts. I used API's in the past and found them to be very unreliable.
  9. Youre probably not going to save money on energy because youre going to be using nearly the same energy. Your T5's are 54W x4, so 216w. The IT2060's are 120w each at max (according to there desrciption) . So 240w for the pair, but can be dialed down. I dont think you should expect cost savings on energy, however, not replacing bulbs the following year should save you about $80-100.
  10. How much have you been dosing, and how did you come to that amount.? Why are you dosing to begin with.? Are you heavily stocked with corals clams etc.?
  11. Above statement is true, but I wouldn't ever recommend people top off with saltwater from an ATO. Maybe manually to try and bring it back up slowly, but that is what water changes are for.
  12. IMO & IME ecoxotic is junk.. Maybe there new products are better, but the older ones were crap. Had them for a while and they didn't last.
  13. Look into purchasing an ATO (automatic top off) system.
  14. You're right. The razor is huge at 0.9" thick, uses Crappy cree LEDs and it doesn't even with a storm controller to be purchased additionally.
  15. Josh (Yauger) had a mantis in a refugium/sump that was very viewable. Not sure if he has pics of when it was set up, but it was cool.. I agree, I wouldn't put it in my display, but a dedicated tank for it would be nice. That tank could also serve as coral observation tank, or whatever makes you feel better about having another tank. Its very strange how they show no interest in fish. My cardinal was staying at robs for a while and would sit right out in front and nothing would ever happen. I watch Robs group of files swim right in front and again nothing.. Very smart little creatures to. I would definitely own one some day,.
  16. Btw Mantis are awesome. Everytime I go to Robs he is messing with the Mantis. Very cool creature, lots of fun to watch it. However, I don't stick my hand, although Rob tries his best to convince me it doesn't hurt that much..
  17. Maxspect Razor Nano is by far the nicest looking LED on the market for a tank your size. Has lots of features and super sleek.. If youre going for function and style, its your best choice.
  18. ive seen rob feed tangs and rabbits all kinds of things, including mint leaves.
  19. This coral is better left in the ocean, very poor survival rate. Just because they occasionally survive doesn't mean its a good idea.
  20. What, if any life will naturally occur when you start with dry everything.?
  21. No... I get that... In a new tank, starting with dry rock and sand. Will copepods come about.? I get adding them.
  22. So if you start a tank with dry rock and dry sand, Nothing live to start, how do copepods get in the tank.? Where do you they come from and how.?
