  1. Haha, I can see how that might be misleading. The clam I'm missing is a 2" max. The one in one is the pics is a 5" specimen. The little one was behind the foxflame and above the carpet. My guess is the carpet but ....
  2. Thanks, my original thought was it fell into the carpet but I would expect shell somewhere. I'm patiently biding my time. My wish in qt got delayed when the holiday shipping issues but will hopefully get some fish in the system soon. Also adding another ritteri and a pair of skunks to the "easy" reef I'm somehow stuck maintaining. I figure if I have to have a second reef, I'll finally get some pink skunks, which I've wanted for years.
  3. I'll echo the others. I have some in case things go south. I always triple check salinity when things go south as that's been my issue a couple times. That same SSC has had moments where it looks like trash but has come back strong
  4. So really weird. Been working a lot but when I peaked in the tank today after not looking carefully the last couple days noticed I was missing a clam. Searched everywhere but can't find it. It's a 2" maxima so should be there but as of now, it's mia, which is a bummer. Otherwise, tank is doing well. Things are growing and some of the new tank cycle is almost complete. Took a few pics with top off.
  5. Euphyllia. Honestly, non acro sps are generally hardy, as are some of the classics, like green slimer, red planet, most torts
  6. Glad to see the build on here. Was so tempted my the stratons. If they'd been more available I might have gone that way. The install looks really sleek and the tank is settling in. The sniper acro i got from you is coloring up nicely!
  7. Looking great, so glad it recovered and hopefully you get a second anemone out of the whole experience!
  8. Yup, it appears to turn the drum one revolution each. It may be a little more but it's enough to dose the amount of food I want. I have the plank pump on another circuit offset 5 min to stir water and get into water. Certainly the oscillate will work as well and I can dig up the programming but I generally try to keep it as simple as possible. Your tank looks ridiculously good!
  9. You can use the oscillate function or make it easier and just use the spigot in Apex. Here's mine. 2 hour intervals
  10. Thanks, it's hard to be patient. The clowns have settled in well and seem to like each other, which is a change from day 1. Thank you!
  11. Cleaned the glass and took some side views. Totally different perspective. Right side Left side ( harder to get clean)
  12. Lol. I'm glad it's starting to make a recovery
  13. Looking good and Nova Tropicals is great! Did you use Marco cement and dry rock for the scape?
  14. Quick morning pic. Also, saw baby collumbelids last night. Looking forward to them continuing to be fecund. Moved my urchin after it took not one, not two, but three frags on a ride. It's banished to the other tank for now. Hopefully the snails can fill the void
  15. That is awesome! I'm really impressed by your breeding efforts. My kids got a pair of bangaiis and we're slowly conditioning them to hopefully get some breeding as well
  16. Very cool. I think most people who have his stuff are happy with it. Interested to see how it works for you
  17. We've all been there. I put regular tasks into aquaticlog because otherwise it's only when something breaks that I actually fix it. BTW, long thread on r2r asserting that vibrant has fluconizole as part of the formulation, which would explain why it is both effective and occasionally devastating in our systems
  18. Yeah, so far it's not doing a lot. The anemone crab was sitting on it at one point and the clown looks perturbed but otherwise nothing. With as much as they are contacting, I don't know that the monti will survive but if it grows and the anemone doesn't move again, might form a nice barrier to the carpet moving on the rocks Agree about gonis ..... This one is from a frag and at least 6 years old. It got bigger in the 100 but doesn't have a great spot. Still, it's done well. There is some talk that the reason we did bad with gonis in past was due to starting with colonies instead of frags, attributed to the presence of boring organisms that killer from within. Hard to believe that as I'm not sure how they would survive in the wild, unless there's something that keeps it in check in the wild. Nonetheless, this goni has been pretty easy and in general they seem to like the water a little dirty so there must have been some reason for the issues previously. Still going through a little cycle. A little red slime here and there, as well as scattered bubble algae and a little patch of hair algae which grows on the dead rock platform on the top left. Hopefully will have coraline cover in time. Tons of micro life and managed to get some stomatella snails so hopefully they will reproduce.
  19. Ugh, sorry Isaac! Hopefully the reset gets everyone back on track. You might consider leaving the t5s off for a little while until the anemone recovers so as not to blast the tank or change too many things drastically. If I could go back to 2013, I'd have bought some Bitcoin. Then Aussie gold torches at $200/head would have seemed cute
  20. Check out how much the carpet touches. We'll see what happens. This was sold as a leng sy but I think it's a purple polyped cap (flower petal?). Still pretty but interested to see what happens this close to the carpet. New spot for the tort. It's a no name but turning a really nice turquoise color Got this turbinaria heroensis from @Leishman along with this favia. Both a little different from the usual fare
  21. Haha, thanks. I'm hoping they'll lose interest but then again, it's nice having a simple tank as well. And it allows them to have a blue tang because it's what they want. Thanks. That's probably my 3rd favorite ritteri I've had in 20+ years. The nicest I had was a blue base yellow tentacle that died right after I got it (days before antibiotics). Second favorite was a bright purple base deep green tentacle that I lost to tank neglect during some of my busier work times ?. My carpet is slowly creeping up and stinging a couple things. The montipora doesn't mind but the acro might show a little damage. I'm going to try to peel off though hard with how much it's encrusted.
  22. Personally, I wouldn't mess with a good thing with your lights... Personally I prefer t5 or t5 with led but if it's working and you like the light, I'd leave it alone. In terms of the nem, personally I haven't had good luck with feeding during recovery. I'd do the things you are doing and if it starts to recover and catches some small food on it's own, great. I think it's hard for anemones to digest larger food and I know that a lot of people, myself included, no longer feed larger particles like shrimp or silversides, especially when not fully healthy.
  23. Nearing the 2 month mark. A big batch of fish finishes qt in the middle of December and then I'll be watching things grow and sitting tight for a while. In the meantime, my girls got upset about losing their bubbletip anemones, I'm weak and one thing led to another and I decided to keep the reef savvy up as a mixed reef mainly focused on anemones and soft corals. On the plus side, it allows me to shift my zoas and some of the meatier lps into that tank so might get angels again. Still not sure how much the second tank will stand the test of adolescent resolve so I'll hold off on big changes... A few quick non filtered pics:
  24. That's fantastic. I think the microlife gets overlooked a lot in terms of what makes a system successful and definitely slowly increasing light is the way to go. Lots of different shrimp spawn and reproduce and while it's unlikely anything survives without heroic efforts, the fact that you are regularly feeding phyto likely increases the odds. Plus at the least it's great food for everyone else!
